Your welcome. There's not as much engagement as I'd like... shown in the picture, but just a total of .062 has to come off. I'm not going to cut it back farther again.

Edit; I'll cut it back farther after this job.

What is the determining factor that makes you decide to use the dogs on a job?

What is the purpose of a drive dog? Why would you use it?

Guy just came by and wants to know if we can put this together somehow. It goes on a trophy from 1959.

It's early, and I am only partly caffeinated, but... WHY do you need a dog in that set-up? Isn't the work being driven by the chuck?

This is the best epoxy I ever used, single serving and never goes bad from sitting.

Places with bearing on opposite ends including pump shafts for example; so the impeller runs true to bearings along with that.

He suggested threading both pieces and screwing it together. I said it won't line up, he said I know. I said the biggest challenge is holding it. He said can you build a fixture?

Is it worth that much o_O

The only lasting way I can think of would be to turn a thin, brass sleeve just large enough for both ends of the 'stem' to slide in to, and then fill with epoxy and cross pin it. The contact area at the break is too small, IMHO, to make epoxy on its own, reliable.

I agree, it's too small for just epoxy, and it's very top heavy.

    Re: Poll

Yard gets trimmed after I mow...although with the new place it looks like a fair amount of trimming will need to happen before hand to get it squared away. Back yard is a little overgrown in some spots and the front hedges need to be trimmed back something fierce.

That'll be a weird one to get a grip on. You could temporarily epoxy them back together and then drill from the bottom all the way up onto the main body where it gets thicker. Then do a ridiculously long tap and run a length of all-thread or the like up through it with Locktite.
Depending on what the base looks like I suppose.
