What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Durobumps bumpstops up front some fancy Michellin silicone wiper blades. A bit pricey but this last pair lasted me a full year.

 

I believe after a certain year the spare tire did not carry a sensor so it may be why some lights will not come on if the spare is low. Don't quote me on it though I'm sure someone with more knowledge will chime in. Lol.

 

built some rectangular crossbars bars to go with Thule crossbar mounts. Powder coated them a cool satin jet black color. Im eventually going to build a rack for the bed and mainly use these crossbars for longboards so they dont stick out the back when driving around.

 

I can attest that for the 08s the spare will indeed set off the TPMS light.

 

Installed bed stiffeners: Monday, the (easier?) passenger side for the first go, and completed the driver's side this afternoon so I'm calling it a day. It's Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA time! The mod for the left side third brake light wiring to the topper took a while. Fortunately I've had lots of practice at letting go, which comes in handy when the 20v drill's 1/2 " bit grabs... The All Pro Off-road product is well engineered, though I did take my time, test fitting and center punching the side holes, removing the brackets to drill those before installing the brackets. Next up: install a @christian06 ATD on the tailgate. That should be asier since it's only one Torx screw, right? The LH T55 bed bolt took a box wrench in one hand and a 3/8 drive ratchet in the other, and with a hand on either side it finally came free. That cheap Wilmar Performance Tool Torx set is sweet! Torqued all to spec, so we're good for the long summer travels.

Ok ladies and gents.......I FOUND THE SOLUTION TO P0420/430.

I THOUGHT, YES THOUGHT, I needed to change my cats because I was getting the above scan codes(430 consistently). I had a shutter, miss in my engine but my power was ok.

After lots of trouble getting trusted bolts off, buying a heat induction tool(it does work, but some bolts are still not cooperative) to get the rusty bolts off and just yesterday rounding off a head on the manifold stud, driver side most upper right hand bolt, I decided to take off my O2 sensors and look @ them. They were kinda black( I only did my upper 02's because my innova scanner was reading bad cats and someone on Tacoma World told me its always the upper cats that go bad first. So when I took off the one(driver side) I sprayed the remainder of the brake clean(cheap off brand) down in my cat(driver side).

The first time I did this was about 3 weeks ago. I felt slight difference but still felt the miss, shutter. So just yesterday when I thought I needed to change out my cats and had so many problems doing it, I decided to spray some more brake clean down in my cat again, and clean my 02 sensor.

I had the cat unbolted from the lower exhaust bolts and when I did it, the brake clean came out. I was happy to say the least. So I decide to take of the passenger side 02 sensor and do the same thing. So this time, the brake clean sat in the cat for about 3 hrs. and when I first started it up the miss, shutter was still there @ idle. But then I drove it and after that, I notice @ idle the miss, shutter was gone.

I'll keep you posted if this continues to work. I WISH I WOULD HAVE HAD SEAFOAM, next time. I might even pour cataclean directly in the cats .

I installed a Bedslide today. I didn't want to drill holes in the bed so took a chance on the '16-'19 No Drill Kit which turns out it fits the Gen2 models as well. Super easy install.
