Keeping my Tacoma for banging around at the cottage and hauling a trailer but my new highway cruiser, dd/grocery getter has finally arrived.

Had the Hybrid version but sold it for the Ecoboost AWD with 4k tow. Sweet peppy engine and tight handling and decent mpg. and Adaptive Cruise Control which makes long commutes so much better. Nice compliment to the rough around the edges Taco.

Toyota needs to make one of these trucklets

Thanks. I don’t expect Fords will get much love here but they hit a sweet spot with this thing. Just sucks the hybrid not avail with 4K or AWD. The gasser still does allot better on mpg than the Taco though.

if Toyota produces one in a few years I’ll likely trade up. Planning on hanging onto the Gen 2 also

If / When, Toyota makes a "plug-in / hybrid" Tacoma, I'll have one in garage. (assuming that the performance specs are similar to the the Rav 4 Prime)
My second gen will go to my SIL.

My “Garage Queen” is a new Ford Ranger Lariat FX4. Love the truck. Great to travel in and pulls our 19 ft RV amazingly well with the Turbo.

BUT my daily driver is a 2012 ACCESS Cab TRD Off Road that took six months to find. Last weekend it pulled the stock trailer with a bull and six cows just fine. Can’t wait to drive it this morning. Now the big difference is the Taco has 160,000 miles and I would fill it with gas and drive it anywhere in the US with confidence. The Ranger will be replaced with either the next generation Ranger or Tacoma. I don’t expect the longevity with it like a Tacoma. I am hoping for the next generation Tacoma but I got burned with a third generation TRD OFF Road Tacoma. The transmission and 3.5 V6 combo put me over.

The Taco shares the garage with the Ranger and a 2019 RAV 4.

I been driving body on frame trucks only for 25plus yrs and the unibody is a much better dd experience. Yea it’s not an off road beast but it will have its place.

I saw one of these a few days ago at the grocery store, it was larger then I thought it would be. It makes sense in many ways and definitely has a place in the market, if for nothing else there is a roomy brand new utility vehicle for a reasonable price.

How does the interior space compare to 2nd gen, specifically the back seat? Thanks.

I got a dbl cab Tacoma. Back seat feels roomy but slightly tighter than Taco.

The short bed is actually useful for hauling landscape material. Decent payload and I can haul my boat. It’s about 3k.

In dash trailer brake controller that ties into the ECU and show in the display screen for fine tuning. Something Tacoma’s should have by now.
