    ah! A fine question sir! What I usually do is spray them first with a bit of spray and wash and then put them in the washer on delicate cycle, with warm water. From there, here is the key.... Air dry them. Do NOT, I repeat, Do NOT put them in the dryer.

    They will come out looking shiny and new....laces and all.
