12V water jug

The main purpose of this is my girlfriend cannot lift the water jugs to tip them over to get water. I think it would also just be a fun project and a useful nice to have thing.

Has anyone made a water jug with a submersible pump to make basically a sink without the bowl?

I am thinking of using the reliance container and a 12v switched faucet with a small submersible pump.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08XN3QP1J?ie=UTF8 I use this to transfer from my 5 gallon scepters to my 8 gallon waterport. By day 2 or 3 in the back country, lifting that 5 gallons of water is hard for me too hence my reason for the simple pump.

 

I know you said you're looking for a fun project but this will solve your problem with no power necessary.

 

Ah, wouldn't exactly. Still would need to move it to the edge of the bed and with her bein 5 foot nothing and having back problems sliding it is a no go for me.

Yeah I was thinking of that or I plan to make a secondary fuse block in the bed I’ll connect it to

 

both def have plus and minus. I have a block in the bed. Though about the 12v as well for of/when to pull anything out.

 

I'm using a 12v pump I piwer via my blue sea panel. It's great for dishes or muddy boots etc. Etc.

Waiting on my 13gallon iron man water tank to arrive but this 5 gallons worked for camp night. Basically the pump shuts off when the valve isn't open for spraying water. I'll be modifying it shortly for a hose nozzle

just get an old wooden broom handle and put a hook on the end to drag any of the above to the tailgate.

 

I made a portable shower based off this guy's setup. Main difference is mine plugs into the 12V system in my camper. His system uses a 6,000mAh battery that would be good for around six showers before needing recharging, but makes it totally portable. Which means it would be great for general water dispensing use. Looks like you've already got the container sorted out, but if you need a way to power it this guy has the answer for you.



I just flip a switch right there to turn it on, works great. I may build a second one for more general use.

 

Was $5 when I got it but this will pop onto the cap of a septer can . Gives a good stream but isn't wasteful. It's usb rechargeable.

More moving parts = more opportunities for failure. Another 12VDC item means another item you need to power. Why not buy 3 or 4 Nalgene bottles for her and as she drinks them, you fill them up? You will always run into the weight issue with a large water container so the question, in my mind, is: does she want to refill her water bottles from the jug on her own or is she cool with you helping out? If she is cool with you doing it then I would just fill her bottles for her without investing all this time and effort and money.

If she wants to remain independent you could go with a pressurized water container. Nemo makes the helio, WaterPORT and Yakima and others have tanks you can mount to your Taco that are pressurized.

 

Yeah, doesn't really matter too much. Kinda was just a fun project that's all. If it fails the lid can just be taken off.

I'm going to do sort of a dual battery but with a bluetti eb55 I got for christmas so power isnt too big of an issue.
