Getting prepared in the next couple weeks to start the camping season. I am looking for a good, yet fairly priced, sleeping bag. One big enough to cover two people inside my roof top tent. Don't really like the individual bags. Probably a low temp rating like 40 degrees or so.

I have a REI CoOp membership, was thinking that might be a good place to get a good, cheap bag?

    Just the basics

Usually REI does not equal cheap/inexpensive. They have good coupons and when combined with a dividend, items can be reasonably priced. Wallyworld is where you get less costly items and they do have some very good items and prices on certain camping goods but it isn't where I'd go to shop for a sleeping bag.

I have several different sleeping bags but have been very happy with my Teton Sports bags. All of mine are 0F rated and I will use extra blankets if temps get down around freezing. Remember the temp rating is what will keep you alive at that specified rating, not comfortable. If you get two individual Teton bags with opposite side zippers they can be zipped together in the middle which I've done on several trips during the past six months or so. Having done this so often lately and with a coupon code, I purchased a Teton Sports Mammoth two person bag. I haven't used it in the wilds yet but it is very nice...and very big. The Teton coupon code is TETONADVENTURER20...should still work. They have three colors for the 0F bag, two colors for the 20F bag, and I think they have a double canvas bag too but I didn't shop those.

We use two of these. Coleman Dunnock. Available online, too.
They zip together easily, and are very nice to sleep in. We have 4 of them, we got at coleman outlet before they closed them all.

I made this knife with the idea of it being a Camp knife.

Perfect that is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.

Amazon has it for a great price. https://www.amazon.com/Coleman-Dunn...&sprefix=dunncock+sleeping+bag,aps,115&sr=8-3

That is tight! Nothing like making it yourself. What grade steel for the blade, and did you salvage the steel or make from new?

I just ordered the Zoleo Satellite Communication device. It's currently on sale @ REI and Amazon for $150.

I heard good things about them.
A backup, if you want, is to bring a battery pack. Depending on the trip length, 5K, 10K, 20K mAh. I got Anker brand as well as an Anker brand 21w solar panel.

I've had mine for over a year. Does the job for me. Plans are a little pricey, but I think the competition is similarly priced.

This one is made from some cheap high carbon blade steel from a knife supply company. My productions knives will be made from higher grade stainless blade steel.

That seems neat, I just wish stuff like this didn't require a subscription or was something you could turn on/off and use only when you need it. Unfortunately, the world of business has realized they can make way more money by putting anything and everything on subscription :(

The Bivy sticknypu cam pause your service. With Zoleo you can pause service, and it is $4 a month when paused.

While that’s very nice you can pause it, that seems insane they still actually charge you (regardless of how much) while paused. I wish that had more of a pay as you go option. I wouldn’t need this service a lot but it would be great to have. Would definitely put the wife’s mind at ease.

This is what I use, and it's convenient enough to turn it on and off for trips throughout the year, you do have to REMEMBER to turn the subscription on and off. :)

Got my long day hike possibly overnight pack. It’s an Osprey 38 liter. Has plenty of room. It’s going to be a 4 season set up, with of course changing a couple items for the weather.

(Missing the sleeping pad in the picture.)
This is going to be my 3 season set up.
