My family keeps growing and the practicality of my Tacoma is to the point where I am going to get something larger. It pains me, as this truck has been a dream and I built it how I wanted it...it's been great.

I went to a dealer and they offered 34.5k which seems low, but wondering what your guys' opinion is. I will do a private sale if I can make an additional 5k or so.

    Specs:
2019 TRDOR DCSB MT (premium and tech package with black badges, TRD shifter and air filter)
    52k miles
    6112/5160 Billstein with 650# spring
    Dakar HD
    SPC UCA
    General Grabbet A/T 275/75/17
    Rays 10's (including spare)
    BAMF front skid
Body Armor low-pro front bumper with lights
sliders - forgot the manufacturer, I need to go back and look
    bedmat
    Husky all-weather liners
    Clean title, no accidents etc.
*ALso has a BAMF bed rack and Tepui, but that will probably come off unless I sold on here or privately.

Regardless, is 35K fair in your guys' eyes or do you think I can get 40k on the private market. The vehicle is fully paid off and title is in hand so no lien BS to deal with.

    Thanks for the input.

I'd say if you're not in a hurry and have time to deal with tire-kickers and dreamers, post it around at $40 and see what happens. If you want to be done with it and move on, $34.5 actually doesn't sound all that bad to me, especailly if you're trading it in and can get some sales tax advantages on the next ride. Sounds like a neat build but the market for something like that is pretty specific. GLWS.

    Oh look, another mod....
The dealership will give you less than a private seller will, but they are less risky when it comes to payment terms. They'll usually cut you a check on the spot and get you paid ASAP. A private seller will want to "think about it", "drive it again" and then you have to deal with that guys bank (or worry he'll steal your truck during the test drive). They may even try to hold you accountable for things that break on the truck after you sell it.

Go to Carvana, Carmax, Vroom etc... and see what they'll offer you - you may get $2k more than dealer offer depending on location. Dealer is going off KBB/NADA and I think they're probably realistic for a trade in value. They don't care about all of the mods/upgrades you have done. You're better off going back to stock and sell your mods here.

If yiu sell it private, post it on something like autotrader. If not, you'll get every Nigerian Prince trying to buy it for $100K and asking for your bank account info first.

With the car market as is. I would go to Carvana/vroom and whatever they offer I would ask friends and family if anyone is interested at that price if not take it to the highest. Just my 2.

Op needs to find that one pigeon to sell the truck to if trying to get the best price. Any trade to a dealer isn't going to give you squat for any of the aftermarket stuff the truck now has. Your lucky just to get the wholesale value of the truck from a dealer.

In Texas you only pay tax on the difference between the new car purchase price and trade in allowance. 34.5K x 6.25% = $2,150.
    Factor that in if appropriate.

Looks like we all came to the same conclusion. I'm just splitting hairs and it comes down to how I value my time.

Think I'll check with CarMax and Carvana, strip off the sliders, skids, rack and sell the truck to dealer or one of those other entities with the bumper, wheels/tires and the other stock items that aren't mods.

It's going to be sad to let it go, as I love this truck...first world problems are tough...

    Thanks all!!

I vote take off parts trade into dealer if you are eligible for tax credit.
