I searched but didn’t see a any thread for model railroaders or am I the only one?

    I’m starting my first layout - 2x4 N scale.

    Anyone else?

Sorry if there is a thread for this old codger hobby but I find it relaxing and sorta fun.

I can't attest to being an actual foamer but my kid might be. He LOVES trains, and that could even be considered an understatement. It doesn't help that my dad works for BNSF. Every weekend that he's with me, all he wants to do is go out and watch trains pass by.

I recently picked up waaaay to much HO scale stuff, over $300 worth of various track, switches, a few buildings, about 5 - 7 locos, a dozen or more assorted rail cars and other misc stuff, either through ebay or goodwill auctions online. I didn't quite anticipate the actual size of space needed to setup even a small sized track configuration. Right now I've been working on setting up a 2 track configuration on a 4x8 sheet of plywood that can be somewhat easily brought out for him to play with but also be put away and not take up a lot of space 24/7.

This is just a fraction of what I have for HO scale. I have a foot locker/trunk full of it.

I've been a model railroader all my life. Just now working on benchwork for my first layout but I've been building models for years. It's a terrific hobby but not exactly cheap:

When I was 6 I was given a G scale starter set for Christmas. I still have the rolling stock.

About 15 years ago I had a nice garden layout, but it fell by the wayside for lack of maintenance/time.

Thinking about reviving it and doing a ceiling layout, for funsies.

Have always enjoyed model rail roads, and model building in general. Have had more time doing the latter, but here is my RR set up. Was gifted to me for Christmas when I was 12 and have kept running since. Lived in Germany at the time, received it from a german uncle hence the euro train set.
