Hello to everyone here at Tacoma World!

I have been debating over my options for a new vehicle now for about 6 months, and multiple times now I have narrowed it down to a 2005+ Double Cab 4x4 Tacoma as what will best suit my needs (sound familiar to anyone?). It's come time to downsize, as I've had multiple vehicles each directed more towards a specific purpose (Hauling, Fuel Economy, 4 Wheeling), I think the Tacoma will suit the needs for all 3 quite well.

I still have a Jeep and a motorcycle to be sold, after which I'll be able to pay cash for the truck, so I have a little time yet before I buy. I thought rather than just going off my own judgement and opinions, I should see if I could get any words of advice from seasoned Tacoma enthusiasts, so, here I am!

So on that note, I would ask if generally speaking, there are any issues with Tacomas that I should keep an eye out for, any features I should try to get or avoid, is one year significantly better than another, etc. I also have a free set of BFG All Terrains waiting to be shipped to me due to a warranty claim from a bad batch, and was wondering what size I can fit without any interference, or other issues? I was thinking I would most likely order 265/75/16's or 265/70/17's depending on what wheel size I end up with, or, maybe order a used set off eBay as I've noticed they can be had for a pretty reasonable price, then have a summer/winter set. I realize both tire sizes amount to almost the identical size, but does the construction of a 16" vs 17" BFG AT produce much difference in ride quality, fuel economy, or other element of performance?

Looking forward to any feedback, and getting involved with the Tacoma cummunity.

    Thanks!

I'm on my third tacoma and I'm a fan of the double cab long bed - does it all and has a strong resale! If you go with the bfgs AT the 265/70/17s will have the lower sidewall and will better for road handling while the 16s will give a bit more mush for off road - but truly the differnce is gonna be so minute that I doubt you'd notice.
