What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Power steering flush.
Replaced the steering rack and tie rod ends.
PS fluid fill n purge.

 

Replaced the antenna and drivers door seal. Both were fun time. It's nice to have the radio back.

 

More mods

 

I had to destroy my antenna to be able to remove it from the fender (so much corrosion). The Dremel sure came in handy.

 

I used an oscillating tool and a metal cutting blade. Two cuts on that top nut was all it took

 

Today I took off the “fake” TRD off road fender stickers that the previous owner slapped on, as well as the tailgate SR5, V6, and Toyota badges. Left the Tacoma badge. I think it cleaned up the truck nicely.
Also removed and replaced the snapped spare tire hoist. Not a super fun job, glad that one’s done with. No more spare tire in the bed for me!

How many TONS is that thing? I am thinking about towing this summer, a car and uhaul tow dolly? My miles are 500-600, but coming from PA,OH,IN,IL

 

Isn't that around 6,500 lbs?

 

Just under 6. Only had about 5 miles to go. Pulled just fine. Stopping was a bit of a butt pucker. lol

 

It was just under 6000 lbs. I only went about 5 miles. I wouldn't go much further than that.

 

Got a little ridiculous.... and decided to plastidip my Wheels Burnt Copper Alloy and eliminate the Rockstar 2 "spokes"... Receiving a bunch of mixed opinions but I am going to roll with it for now until I eventually go over it in black!.. But I think it actually came out kinda sorta cool. In the sun it looks a little bit over the top for sure...

 

I towed 6800 lbs once and still had stock brakes at the time and I know exactly what you mean. Stopping was not fun.

 

Cleaned the MAF sensor and throttle body, installed a new serpentine belt, and cleaned, replaced parts, and adjusted the rear drums.

 

Gave it a much needed wash yesterday.

 

I made a bunch of cuts and still needed a chisel and punch to remove it. The joys of living in the rust belt.

 

Installed some PRG poly motor mounts for the piece of mind that my stock ones will not fail on me. Been reading some horror stories on that so immediately got on it.





I have had the energy suspension universal core support poly bushings on and never really was happy with how they fit and looked. Recently purchased a full set from them to do the steering rack and body mounts and these came with it. In my opinion they are a much better fit as they resemble the oem mounts except they are obviously poly now.

Scored a great deal on an ARE cap in super white. I was thinking about color matching but now that it's on, its growing on me. It's really giving me 2 tone K5 Blazer vibes. I like it and I'm probably gonna leave it for a bit and see how I feel later. It does need to be cleaned up. Also the red is going soon. Blacking out the badges and center caps. Wheels aren't in the budget so I'm dipping in gunmetal gray for now

 

You might want to remove that top washer. You will have some squeaking if you dont.

Where did you get the motor mounts? What horror stories?
