Uh. Hi.

Well. I will have had my Tacoma a month Sunday. I had wanted an OffRoad, but there weren’t any in stock and my only vehicle died .3 miles before I got to the Toyota dealership to tell them what I wanted them to look for.

She is actually really pretty. The magnetic gray metallic with the black alloy wheels and chrome lug nuts, and other touches of shiny metal here and there are very nice. The dark upholstery with the red stitching and the dark gray and red dash and doors is really sharp.

I was so freaked out by the dead car I barely looked at the truck until the next day. I wanted red. But the mgm is really growing on me.

it obviously didn’t have the minimal lift and the sound system, cameras, etc., that the OffRoad would come with, so I got the suspension upgrade at the dealer so it wouldn’t void the warranty, and went to the closest sound shop to get an upgraded sound system. We didn’t change the head unit to not lose steering wheel controls, cameras, etc. if you know of a head unit that keeps functionality, I would love advice about that! Took them nine hours to do the system install yesterday.

Cudgel, thank you! I am kind of crawling the web and will send the recommendations to my install guy. I am a little hesitant to install even a regular car stereo, and when you begin to add all the additional speakers and build the custom boxes, etc., it is out of my league. I guess the good news will be that he already has everything run - he will just have to yank the head unit and connect it with whatever wiring harness adapters there are and it would be a done deal. At the moment I suspect my son is wondering if I could possibly be pushed off a cliff somewhere since the title is TOD.

 

Axl! I would have loved a Pro! So glad you have one! I have thought of being a little more crazy, but I decided since it was an SR5 without a lot of extras it could also be fun to not make it look too modded. Can’t hide the lift though. I swear it handles better with the lift? I am going to blame it on the improved suspension components.

On the stereo note, when you buy another headunit, make sure it is Maestro RR capable. You will then keep all cameras, mics and controls except for the “birds eye” view. Not sure anything will help there yet. And he’ll have to run new signal cables to the amps, for even better sound.
