I know these threads are the worst, just looking for some help. I know the Tacoma tick… This sounds like more than that to me? Notice how it trails off at the end. This is me revving to around 4000 or so. I have heard things about high-pressure fuel pump getting really noisy… Does that sound right?

Normal, and why are you revving it to 4k rpm?

Hard to hear. But from what I can hear, everything sounds tip top magoo.

I was at 4000 for the example of the noise. I’ll bet I get to 4000 at least once a day getting on the freeway though.

Sounds like mine always has with <5k miles. Modern engines are chattery as hell. Direct injection cleaning cycles, high-pressure fuel pumps, random EPA vacuum nonsense. All the modern stuff makes for annoying engine rattles and clicks. This sounds totally normal to me compared to my own.

One of my previous cars had a Ford 5.0 coyote, it had piston slap the first 5 minutes on warm-up and randomly on decel. Totally normal for that engine, was never a problem even though legit broken sounding. Drove the hell out of it for years.

Have you taken it to the dealer? You shouldn't depend on "Brokechanics" on a forum. The sound of winding gears could be a lot of things, and most of them not good! Have you checked you oil level?

yeah, I hear you, but in my experience, dealerships have been terrible with diagnosing a noise. They usually just tell me it sounds normal and send me on my way.

Normal. It sounds exactly like my buddies x 2019 3.5 tacoma did when we went on fishing trips in the truck.
