I replaced mine almost $50.00 3 weeks later back to same problem you’d think Toyota would have positive fix I’m seeing newer ones than mine same problem I have put into neutral with parking parking brake on push the the white extended part of switch and turn ignition key to start bs I wished I did more research on these Tacoma’s throwout bearing earlier 2nd generation transmission issues I bought for dependability and longevity now I’m going to spend big bucks to fix myself because of Toyota’s defective engineering design on the tob that can and will cause damage if not attended to chirping sucks!

I don't see the point of this useless switch anyway. Just bypass it and be done with it. Manual Transmission Vehicles ran fine without this nanny switch since 1870.

Just ran into this today with my dad's truck, the truck is a 2012 4 cylinder with 114k miles on the clutch he said hes has been having to push the clutch pedal further down guessing because of wear seems a little soon but whatever. I look at the carpet where the clutch would hit and theres an indention of where the pedals has been hitting from the extra travel. I'm guessing he bent the mounting bracket for the clutch switch. I used my wrench and got under it and bent it back it worked for now. But I think he needs a clutch

My fix was to bend the clutch switch mouting bracket a little up so the switch can make proper contact with the clutch pedal.
