If there was a clutch start cancel switch with push start, the brake pedal wouldn’t be involved, you would just hold the start switch instead of holding the key on Start.

The brake pedal is not involved when starting a Toyota with a manual transmission and smart key.

Toyota is just trolling us now. Chrome package? They must have died laughing in the boardroom. Next they will announce the “incandescent lighting upgrade package” and “new thinner paint for weight savings”

Push button in = turn key to start
Release button = stop turning key

This should work the same way with the clutch start cancel.

16-19 was part of the premium package (sunroof, leather in 18+). I thought all v6 got dual climate after 20. Mine does.

according to my VSPEC, no DCC.
    https://guest.dealer.toyota.com/v-spec/3TYCZ5AN4NT079403/detail

I think Toyota reduced the tech package to just RCTA and BSM. They moved DCC to the premium package, I think.

In my quest for a new TT my must have was the tech package at minimum followed by advanced tech which comes with the cameras.
I don’t want leather unless it comes with cooled seats.

I was happy they made the sunroof a premium option. That’s not something I want for long term ownership. Wiring, glass, rubber, tracks, ooof no thanks.

For those wondering, expect 2023 production to start in September 2022.

You aren’t getting the point of the clutch start cancel. It isn’t a convenience feature used to start the truck in neutral without the clutch depressed. The clutch start cancel is used to start the truck IN GEAR in precarious situations where any amount of rolling back would be dangerous, ie: off-roading and you stall out and risk rolling back into an obstacle or worse.

In these situations, you’d engage clutch start cancel from the dash button. Keep your foot on the brake pedal. Put the truck into first gear/reverse. Then you’d crank the starter with the key. This essentially uses the starter motor to pull the truck away from the obstacle and starts the engine as well.

Again, this is a tool used to prevent damage in certain situations. In day-to-day use, you wouldn’t use it and you’re correct that the brake isn’t used to start a manual Tacoma. But hopefully this helps explain this useful feature!

I completely understand what it is and what it is used for.

I don't understand how pressing and holding a button is different than turning and holding a key. Because I don't understand the difference, I thought you were insinuating there was a brake pedal involvement in starting the vehicle. My mistake.

    So... what's the difference?

Do you think a driver Grab handle be in the package? Hood struts? LED head lights? I saw a special incandescent interior light package maybe offer in 2023?
Question is led lighting that more expensive ? For factory produce Tacomas? Led lighting seems to be a selling point! Today more people want the led lighting.

Flashlights, head lamps, lanterns all comes with leds today! Toyota needs meet those demands!

Understood, I could see how my original post could’ve been worded better.

I hear ya that the push button could technically be equivalent to turning the key. Maybe it’s a decision Toyota made after testing, or possibly a cost related decision as the manual is cheaper than the auto.

You sure we don’t have this? My cab is very quiet…relative to the 2008 FJ I traded.

This isn't new for 2023, it's been the same since 2016.

Maybe they did it to make it even harder to steal the already-harder-to-steal Tacomas (MT).

But actually someone mentioned a totally dead battery would affect the possibility of popping the clutch on this if there was a push button rather than a key. I was going to say “push starting,” but didn’t want to confuse that with the button. So this is probably the reason for the key!
