So yesterday I decided to try an fix my foggy passenger headlight by taking the headlight assembly out and cleaning it up then resealing it. I had to take the whole grill off and use a lot of persuasion to get that thing in and out.
Anyways when I plugged it all back in and put the front end back together I started the car and it fired right up like normal but died within a second. This happened twice and on the 3rd time it started and stayed running but had a rough idle for about 15 seconds before it leveled out. The same rough idle happened this morning and once it leveled out it ran perfectly all the way to class.
Do you guys think I could’ve shorted something or blown a fuse, I haven’t had a chance to check anything yet. I’ve also read that sticky valves can cause that but this started right after I did all this work so I doubt it. I also have no check engine light but will run it for error codes later today. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah I also cleaned the K&N dry flow filter while I was at it and the passenger parking light stopped working but I’m pretty sure that’s because I accidentally got my sweaty fingers on it.

Yeah when I changed my battery in the fall it was pretty similar to this at first but it didn’t have a rough idle issue past the initial startups

I don’t think you shorted or blew a fuse.
If you did, the problem would not “clear up”.

Does the air filter require you to apply an oil after after cleaning? And if so, did you apply it?

No it’s a dry flow so it’s oil free, I bought that after the oiled k&n filter my truck came with threw oil onto my MAF

Sounds like you may need to clean the throttle body and relearn the idle.

A possibility. I believe the fuel pump resistor is right there behind the passenger headlight, maybe you hit the wires or the connector?

This morning it started pretty normal just the rpms were a bit higher than normal for about 15 seconds. I think it just needs to relearn idle and yeah the TB probably needs to be cleaned.

I think you wetted the MAF and confused it. Loosley speaking, the MAF works by putting current through a wire and looking at voltage drop across the sensor. The V drop is affected by the rate of air flow and associated convective cooling of the wire which changes resistance with temperature. Make sense? So if the wire is wetted you're adding evaporative cooling effects to the sensor and the sensor thinks you are flowing lots of air so it dials back fuel accordingly, hence the stall. Once the sensor drys out all is good again. I think you are fine. My $.02.
