I posted here last week as a prospective buyer, very glad to say I now have a 2007 SR5 in my driveway! For now one question about the front license plate. The dealer and I didn't see any threads where screws would go. I'm not sure if my state requires the front license plate, but might as well install it since I have 2. Something I never thought about - it should go in a frame, right?

Not surprisingly - the dealer said while I was at the DMV registering the Tacoma someone came to ask about it. Due to how rare and expensive these used Tacomas are around here (or maybe everywhere), I feel very fortunate to be able to get one.

Welcome to TW…You can use self tapping screws into the plastic bumper, not the frame.

Is there a pair of square or rectangular holes where the plate goes?
If so there are threaded plastic inserts available which receive license plate screws.

Thanks for the welcome and suggestions - I'll double check to see if there's any existing holes. If not, made note new holes would go in the plastic bumper. Another good idea is the tape.

This is the kind of vehicle I'm going to have to drive again this evening even though I don't need to go anywhere! Can't say I did that with my Honda CR-V.

    Here you go -
Yeah now I have 2 trucks. Will probably keep the Silverado as a backup for a while, but the reason for trading in a CR-V for the Tacoma was to consolidate to 1 vehicle at some point. The Tacoma will be my D.D.

Nice looking truck ya got there! Be sure to take some time and go over the underside with some rust proofing like Fluid Film.

Thank you - yes rust proofing is where I live. What 2007 model do you have and how many miles? Maybe someday I'll get alloy wheels. The grill is new (or replaced) as the original plastic was broken.

The frame looks pretty good, and there's some suspension components that appear to have been replaced, such as the rear leaf springs. Several new looking bolts, U brackets. an other components with manufacturer's stickers on them. I'll try to get a picture later because I'm wondering about this.

There was some surface rust on the hitch (nice having one since I don't on my Silverado) but I realize this is a 15 year old truck. Doesn't have any rust that I can see around the wheel wells.

Here's some shots of what appears to be new leaf springs and a few other components. There's a couple of other areas, such as the shocks, that appear to have new bolts. Is it common for the leaf springs to need replacement? Seems like a good job, rides decent and no objectionable noises over bumps and road imperfections. I chose 'Insert Thumbnail" for the images, but they ended up as full images.

Not positive but thinking your leaf packs/hardware got replaced under the recall. What's going on with the top of the driver side rear shock?

Underside looks relatively nice, yes, shocks could stand to be replaced, looks like you got your leaf springs replaced with the 4 pack. Right on!
    4wd? 4 cylinder? A/T or M/T?
