I'm late to the coil talk. But Lt has a different lever ratio on the coil over than stock setups. You don't need as beefy of a coil on a Lt truck generally due to this.

Guys, it's been a while, but I am back! Still battling health issues (I am too young for this crap!) and took a bit of time off work. Wanting to knock out the Giant Motorsports rear end on my list and I am hoping to get rolling with that soon. My goal is to cruise from Barstow to Las Vegas offroad at some point.

Regardless, I've put a lot of miles on the truck and it's been running great. Haven't driven it much lately as I'd rather pay 60 bucks in the car than 140 a week just to drive to work LOL.

I have got the split second MAF Fuel/Timing Calibrator somewhat tuned with the time I had and absolutely LOVE it. It's transformed the truck into something so pleasurable to drive and not worry about where I am at on the throttle or running lean. It was definitely a good investment for drivability and reliability with the load I put on this truck. I was frustrated at first figuring out how to tune it, but once you get your head wrapped around it and the concept, it isn't bad at all.

Went full 3" exhaust and turbo muffler and that actually made a noticeable difference I had didn't initially have much expectations for.

I was contemplating the O2 calibrator as well since my little four cylinder often times sees the upper end of boost for long periods of daily driving highway closed loop in 5th gear (I avoid it if I can, but any hill.....) and figured it'd be better ~13.5 than 14.7 AFR, but in the same breath I am running methanol and should have nothing to worry about.

No plans anytime soon for any extra engine stuff beyond this point as I am totally content with the drivability. More power is always cool from cams and stuff/standalone, but not worth it to me at this point.

    Update:

Truck is pretty much stripped and rear frame rails completely stripped! Giant Motorsports 64" kit upon fitment the level of awesomeness is directly equivalent to their massiveness! Trying to get this done and making it to the Fiesta Island meet!

    Awesome build so far man!

Do you remember where you bought your UCA/coil bucket gussets from?

Also, how's the PRP seat for daily driving?

    Thanks!

I ordered them online from somewhere- they're made by Total Chaos and labeled exactly as you said, coil bucket gussets.

The PRP seats are awesome. Keep in mind through, I have no other bucket seat experience and trying to do this with cost in mind I got my driver seat used and that's what I came across not knowing any better.

That being said, they're great, but as a daily driver it is a bit cumbersome to get in and out of because the sides (where you hips are) are so tall. Because of this, a removable steering wheel is nearly a must have. Once I hit the trail with speed and not sliding around the seats completely validated them. Perfect for what I was looking for and extremely comfy.

If I were to do it again, i'd definitely get something with less rise/less aggressive on the sides making it far easier to get in and out, but would definitely get PRPs again.

Okay, thanks man! I hate the stock seats and I'm torn between finding modern sports car seats and making them fit, or buying some prp's...

I'd love prp's but I think I'd rather put that money towards go-fast-parts

Okay so this is kind of where my ideas are at.
...and before you guys call me out on it, NO. That's just a birthmark on my neck! It ain't nothing more than that!

Got a handful of 2"X0.120" Chromoly tube from Geoff so that's what I'll be using for the external B pillar and majority of the interior cab cage. Most other stuff will probably just be DOM 1.75"X.095/0.120." 32 Gallon fuel safe fuel cell will sit right behind the B pillar.

Here is a bare bones outline I doodled off my tape measure. Obviously everything will be tied in amongst each other at some point. Again, this is just a basic idea I'm trying to paint a picture with in my head before I actually start landing tubes.

With the way the middle tube (yellow) that goes from wide part of cab (under the window) to the end of bed and where the main top tube (red) comes down it gives me a perfect place to make a simple double sheered plate bracket for the shock to land on, but that'll be more specific once I figure out where to land the shock when cycling the suspension.

Plans amongst this layout is the bead roll some panels and use them as filler plates between the cross bracing in the bed.

Beyond that I'm going to be making a "universal" carrier for the spare. First configuration will be sitting back a bit further from where it's pictured and tipped back towards the hoist a bit, but giving me a minimal amount of bed room and is a little bit behind the axle and probably ideal for everything.
Second configuration will be flipping the tire carrier and the tire will act nearly as a bed extender giving me a ton of space, ideal for loading camping gear or whatever in the bed. It's hard to explain, but I have an image in my head I'm confident about and makes a lot of sense...

Truck has been sitting at a standstill for a while due to 10 to 12 hour days at work stacked with 5 more hours of commuting back and forth daily to San Diego and back to San Gabriel. Absolutely over that.

If any of you guys see me in the middle of the night paving the 5 freeway center lanes near 78 in Carlsbad/San Diego, send a honk!

But that being said, hoping to knock out at least the interior cage at the very end of December. Fingers crossed!

Still thinking about bed lining the truck, or was that the work truck?

Not the service truck or Tacoma, but my 01' F350 I am looking to bedline someday. I've been so run down from work and cant wait another two months until I work closer to home and have more time to do this kind of stuff. Would be wicked cool to do the body a light Ford blue, and then black rocker panels. Goals someday...

Did you ever get your methanol setup running? What size nozzle and what pressure did you have it set to turn on at?

Yessir! Worked great and if I could do it all over again, I'd do it the exact same way.

Had it running for a while before retiring the truck to the backyard. Daily drove on that for a while as I was testing everything. Forgot how much boost I was running total, but I think somewhere around 10lbs of boost total. I would have methanol come on at 4lbs and ramp up to max flow gradually to 10lbs. This is using aem's methanol injection kit with the smallest injector nozzle.

I run my engine pretty hard and have been extremely happy with it, although I did run off a 10 gallon methanol tank in the bed instead of the little 1 gallon one that came with the kit as I take the truck on long distance trips and with the way I was running there is no way that little tank in the kit would work for me.

Sweet. Good to hear. Yea I saw that you got that massive tank for it. I'm in the same boat with long trips but don't want to get that big of a tank for it. I'm hoping to wire in a switch for turning it on and off for winter vs summer months through the Haltech.
Did you have that 10 gal from the getgo, or did you run off the 1 gal tank for a while? Curious on what kind of consumption you saw and how often you had to fill it up.

    Little update for you guys-

Got all the main tubes landed. Need to gusset and support all of them still.

The old school hella HID (the real one, not retrofitted one) is on. As much as I wanted to do a linear actuator for it, I am going to just keep it on a simple stick to raise it up and put it down. It's insanely bright. No comparison to my old light bar.

Fuel system parts ordered. Going from fuel cell>40 micron filter>low psi high flow holley pump>swirl pot>holley 190 lph pump, then to factory fuel filter and rail.

After going back and forth with myself a ton I decided this was the best option for two reasons: holley fuel mat was too expensive for a non serviceable piece, in tank collection tanks didn't seem like they work all that good with the one way flappers, so a surge tank/specifically a swirl pot seemed like the best option. Second reason is it's extremely easy to pump out fuel with the high flow pump to either transfer or drain fuel with this setup.

I'll get you guys some photos within a few weeks! This thing is actually coming out pretty good and it looks like nothing else I've ever seen...
