Less due to gas prices and more due to nice weather. Plus the bikes more fun. I have a 6k mile road trip planned in July that I’ll be taking the truck on. That’s gonna hurt a bit with these prices.

I WFH so I don’t even drive that much anyway. Just recently went on a road trip to AZ and took my truck since it got better mileage than my boyfriend’s Runner. Just hit above 5k miles on the truck and it’ll be a year with it at the end of June.

Parked both my 4runner and tacoma. Wife already drives a pruis so I got one for dirt cheap fixed it and now we're both driving pruises. We both commute about 45 miles a day in separate directions from the country so we cant carpool walk or take a bicycle. Rightnow gas is riding a $5 a gallon here and meat prices are soaring too.

Yea I find that I don't take the long way home as much when out and about. Most of my trips are short anyway, out to the desert of
down to the store and back anyway.

I DD my Taco 30 min each way to work. I average a steady 14.1 L/100km or 16.68189 MPG taking it easy. Our rec cabin is 5-6 hrs away. Just got back last week after a phenomenal 5 days away and averaged 11.1 L/100km or 21.1905 MPG during the trip. We are going to continue to go there regardless of fuel prices.

However, we do all of our local errands with the car that don't need a truck. No more local Taco joy rides either.

I tell myself I should be economical and take the car 3 days a week (the days wife is not using it). Can't bring myself to do it yet. Truck was an early retirement gift to myself. Motivates me to keep on getting up in the mornings to get to work.

So, for DD it's either my Taco or our beater (2004 Nissan Sentra). What would you choose to DD? I thought so.

I got some volks, MT tires, 5.29 gears during these challenging times. These modifications should definitely save me some $$.

I try to be more conscious about my MPG by planning out my errands in order of distance and determining if I really want to make the trip to stop for something. It doesn't always work out as store prices usually offset any fuel savings. I do order more stuff online as shipping is usually free or cheaper than the gas and my time to run to the store.

Also, with all the idiots on the road not paying attention or on their phones sometimes you just have to brake hard or floor it. Temps are about 100 here now so AC runs all the time too.

I have made a point to fuel up at Costco which saves 20-30 cents a gallon compared to the Shell stations I used to frequent, but that's only a few bucks in savings each tank plus you've got to wait in line a bit, which means idling with the AC on. Costco membership is due for renewal next month, so there goes the fuel savings plan. :annoyed: My only other vehicle is a 2002 SS Camaro. It takes premium.

A lot people are struggling these days, so I'm thankful and blessed to be in the position I am now.

Main difference is I do a lot more siphoning so I can give some to my family and neighbours in need. I feel pretty good about myself generally.

If you're doing that at night and can't see you can always hold a lighter up for better visibility. :bananadead:

Daytime, outside the donut shops, is where you can score the 94 Octane.

I leave for work a little earlier than I did in the past. I find 10 minutes either way can greatly increase / decrease traffic and with a lot of traffic lights on my commute I tend to either hit them all or hit none. It can change the reported trip MPG by 1-2 which can add up over time.

If I had a long highway trip coming up (within reason) I'd take my Vette as it gets significantly better fuel economy above 50 MPH than my truck or my wife's Grand Cherokee which also seems to get better economy and takes regular grade fuel without issue. My truck pings audibly on anything other than 93. As I've mentioned in the other fuel thread while I understand it's in the owner's manual that some level of audible pinging is normal / acceptable for the delta in fuel costs it's much less on my brain to pay the upcharge and not think about it.

I feel very fortunate in these GAStronomical times that I don't have to drive much. The wife and I work from home running our business so no commute. The Tundra sits parked ready to put up for sale when our newly ordered Sprinter van arrives. Nothing is changing for the Tacoma which doesn't get driven but for offroad adventures and the annual trip to Las Vegas for the Mint 400 race. 4 years and only 12,5xx on the odometer. The Rav is what we use to run errands and get supplies for the business. 15 miles round trip to the nearest town once a week and twice a week to the mountain for skiing but other than that we don't drive much so fuel could hit $8.00 a gallon and not really bother me much. However I do feel sorry for those whom have no choice and have to drive daily to work and back.

In all seriousness, if the prices stay this high, which I imagine they will (never seen ‘em go down in the long run), it’s gonna change a lot about society.
