I am jealous, where are you going?

Also, the lightbulb went off. I ate at Las Olas in Cardiff a ton of years ago -- a great place.

Yup I'm doing exactly the same thing. My armored taco with 33s and a camper gets about 14mpg while my wife's hatchback gets about 40mpg and she works 100% remote so I've been using her car to commute since gas went crazy. It's over $5per gallon here!

Mine is all I got besides a mountain bike so I DD it but it's only 8 miles each way. The gas prices suck and are only going to probably suck even more by August. I'm not destitute but with food going up too I'm watching my spending carefully. I don't really go anywhere but to work to the gym and maybe the store during the week. On the weekends I might go hiking or for to a bike trail but I'm staying closer to home than before.

I usually go on a few long weekend camping trips that are a few hours away. This year so far I've booked only one but it's a full week at a destination. I figured that way I wouldn't be driving as much and it would still feel like a good get away from things.

where are you headed? Send pics!

I’ve been contemplating a trip to Baja this summer… a bit of beach and some camping in the mountains…

Maybe staying some 200 mi from the border (only because of time constraints!)

    good luck!

I guess I am the only one buying a tacoma to get better mileage. We have modified Jeeps and a Tundra we use to pull the Jeeps and our atvs/utvs.

I have a long love affair with hotrods, race cars, and trail rigs. Don't plan to change it now.

Just an update (if anyone is cares), I've run an unofficial tally for the "changed" and "not changed" with regard to driving habits due to gas prices. It is TW after all and, not all answers were shall we say "applicable?" I've done my best to be objective and glean a determination from the responses I could. I have 82 our of 126 that went fairly clearly one way or the other. The others were responses, comments, or just not clear (typical TW crap).

From the 126 responses thus far, 37 are unchanged for the most part and, 45 don't give a shit and do whatever they want.
There you have it. If the post garners another significant number of responses, perhaps I'll update. Or, I may drink and go to bed early.

Living out in small town California, I am a 5 minute drive from the shooting range and a 20 minute drive from the better hunting fields.
Which was an intentional, lifestyle choice.

Definitely. I have a late 90s Corolla that I have had forever. Love that thing it gets close to 30 a gallon. Some people don’t have the choice because the truck is there only rig but for the one’s that have a choice I don’t understand why you wouldn’t choose to save a bunch of money on gas and spend it on something else. Anyway the truck only gets driven on the weekend now. I used to drive it to work about half the time but at almost 100 bucks a tank it stays parked way more now.

I work from home, aside from every other week having to take the kids to after school things and the usual weekend fishing trip, my truck remains parked. 2018 and just running up to 29k miles.

They say gas may hit $6 by end of August 2022.
Today we consolidated our trips. Use the Corolla instead of the Tacoma.

Today we eat less and “drink more” - gasoline. Yes our truck is addicted to gas.
Alway maintain a higher tire pressure. So when buying gas you pressure will be lower.

Lucky for those who do less driving to work or have a company car.

life has its ups and downs. Gas is up in prices and our wallets is going down in funds.

America is the land of the free. (Our freedom to choose) Everything else we “pay”.
Hawaii we import almost everything, cost to live in Hawaii, very high!

In 1968, I remember buying gas at 33 cents per gal. As school kids very common to get buy one dollar worth.
    Aloha.

I got my license in 1999, we paid around $1 a gallon, would cost me 13 bucks to fill my tank.

My 1st gen sadly doesn't get a lot of driving because I need to change the valve cover gaskets.

What the prices have done though is make me reconsider wanting a new truck. My car runs premium and averages 27 MPG, which still costs less than daily driving a truck on regular. (I drive around 20k miles a year somehow :()

I got my license in 1969. I think gas was around 35 cents a gal. Could remember driving to school all week for $5 or less.

^^This! My Goldwing doesn't come out when the outside temperature is below 50 degrees or when it's raining. Part of the reason I moved from Vermont to south Florida was to be able to ride year-round in the warm weather. I'm lucky enough to have a vehicle each for myself and my wife in addition to the bike, so I can save riding for when conditions are enjoyable.

If you haven’t purchased your new Tacoma yet, i would let the dust settle. Who’s going to be buying trucks soon with $6-$8 gas? Not many. Unless you’re well off or need the truck for work IMO
