The tranfser gear oil is not going to have your typical smell or viscosity; it mostly resembles a synthetic manual transmission fluid (MTF-3)

Owners manual lists it as a synthetic 75w90

For the transfer case? No it doesn't; it's lists SAE 75W Transfer Gear Oil.
My point is, it's unlike any traditional gear oil he's comparing it to.

I've had the same thing on my 2016. I've noticed though that it only really leaks when in 4wd. Talked to toyota, they wiped it off then came back and said no fluid was "leaking". Haven't taken it back since then.

Sounds reasonable but why would it be on that lower bracket which was likely installed after T case was assembled and why only on the bottom and looks like a leak running from front of T case towards the rear...

I will run 4x4 too, as mentioned, see if that get any load pressure to cause it to leak a little bit.

    I feel your pain

2017 Tacoma Sport Manual transmission , I had a leak in the differential in 2019 at about 20,000 miles . I took it in for repair and they kept it for over a week . Now I'm at 35,000 miles and its leaking again. Its definitely fluid from transfer case . Sometimes it will drip on the exhaust and you can smell it when you get out of the truck. I'm setting up an appointment today to take it back in (hopefully with no hassle ) i believe my warranty is up in December

My truck is currently in the shop, they confirmed a leak in the transmission but as of Friday did not know where it was coming from. Now its wait and see, then have the conversation about weather they are going to cover it or not.
I'm outside the five year mark but only have 33,000 miles and this was an issue that was supposed to have been resolved two years ago when i had it in for the same problem.

I would think a seep would have a wet spot on the bottom of the transfer case if not a drop ready to drip…. Do keep us posted please.
