What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I don't have enough miles on them to give you a fair review.

I did do one quite difficult trail, with lots of sharp rocks and had zero issues. Also had two sets of the older version and had good luck with them.

 

Got my AC lines from the dealer and got them installed today, got everything tightened down and pulled a vacuum on the system in prep to drop it by my buddies shop so he could charge it and lost vacuum in under 4 seconds.
So now I gotta put dye in the system and pressurize it to figure out where it’s leaking, everything is new except the compressor and 2 lines.

 

Interesting. Thanks! I’ve had them on my list for potentials for a while. Got a little worried on this guys experience.

 

Who's swapped in an oem seatbelt and knows anything about airbag plugs?

Bought this one that was supposedly good through 01.



And it uses a different plug than my existing one.



Thinking it must only be for up to 00.

 

233k on the clock and just did front s d rear shocks/struts and a power steering rack with energy suspension bushings.it gets an alignment tomorrow! Also I have a topper and almost always haul stuff tools and sometimes a trailer. I was thinking of replacing the leaf springs in the rear. I don’t want a lift just something to support the added weight anyone have any suggestions?

Nice job! I put the stock weight versions of these on a couple weeks ago, and it did wonders for comfort. The HD version (below) is supposed to be for added weight - roughy stock height

Yeah I thought it wasn't a factory common thing when our trucks were around, but my buddies 2nd gen access cab is the same too. Nothing for lower latches.

Greased zerk fittings. Organized the toolbox / threw some shit away that was wasting space in there. Took a spin out at fiesta island. New tires hook up nicely in the deeper sand and the 4wd still functions properly.

 

Very cool, I finally got ours in using the seat belt to where it's not loose. But it would definitely be better with latches for the built in straps, but at least now I know I can drive her around if I need to in my truck.



My wife's RAV4 is the primary toddler hauler though because it's 100% more comfortable for everyone haha.

 

When bought this truck the previous owner smoked & had burned about ten holes in door material around armrest. Couldn’t find exact color match at Fabric store so buddy suggested use camo! We hunt, fish etc lot so…Think goes good with the Tan interior . Will post pic mounted soon

Installed my RCVs! Other than the c clips being complete garbage, it was smooth. It didn’t want to seat, First c clip broke and the second bent. Pulled the clips of my spare set of OEM axles and it all went together no problem.

 

next route is forward facing haha. But yeah I was one step ahead and cranked those tops the fuck down. He can twist but not with the strength needed to open them.

Getting him out on the trails this is my only option. Def tough to try to balance safety and functionality for sure.

 

Anyone with built right UCA ever replaced bushing and spindle?? If so where you source parts from. Built right hasn’t responded. Granted it is a sunday

 

Not done today but getting around to posting about it finally. Allpro Baja bumper with fill plates and stinger on. Install went fairly smooth. Minor trimming needed but nothing major, still have to route blinker into corner light housing (following old mod writeup on here to do it). What do you all think?

 

The Truck Shop here in SD sells/deals with them directly, I believe Built Right is right down the road from them too. However I'm pretty sure they are the same as any other name brand bushings and uniballs.
