My FIL, starting back in the '80's, always swore by Michelin tires and getting 80k miles a set on his half ton Chevy pickups.

My dad had a set or 2 of those, I remember one blowing out cause he had a load of corn in the back of his 1/2 ton Chevy and the tire couldn't hold it

My camper roof is rubber and needs to be replaced. I'm not going back with rubber. I searched online and found a roll of aluminum 8.5' wide and 35' long for right at $1,000  It is out of stock though, I don't care, I'm not spending $1,000 to roof it. I sent a buddy a chirp and ask him what the biggest galvanized sheet metal he has is (he makes duct), 5' X 10' he said and ask how thick? I said thin, he said $59 a sheet. I'd need six I think without measuring. If I go 10' wide I'll have to cut it down but can get him to bend a 90 on each end so it overlaps on top of the camper and I only have the seam in the middle to deal with.

Thinking out loud here and open to suggestions.

How do you plan to secure your sheet metal? then seal the seams ?

Just what supports the rubber roof ?? Do you plan on removing the rubber?

Would Mobile Home roof coating over top the rubber work?

Not sure how to seal it yet, not sure what supports the rubber. I’m assuming it has boards going across and I do plan to remove it so I can see if there are anymore bad spots.

I haven’t messed with it yet, I’m just trying to get a game plan together.
