I came to this thread before purchasing a softopper to check out set ups. So figured I’d let people know who are doing the same….. I ordered mine yesterday, it shipped out today! Even though it says 2-3 weeks on their website.

Thought I’d share that in case it was discouraging people (even though that’s not a long time anyways).

I have yet to regret my purchase! Super versatile and a great addition.

My black on gray 2nd Gen. The truck is as stock as stock gets. I bought the Softopper for some driving trips and rotate it with a tri-fold cover depending on what I'm using it for.

Question for you guys who run safari mode more frequently-- my tension straps kept getting loose after a trail; had to keep going back there every now and then to tighten them until they were snug again. Is that common or do you guys have a way to keep them snug? I'm assuming it's common unless my slider locks are not functioning properly.

Hasn't been an issue for me, but I also keep those straps pretty tight.

I tighten them up occasionally even when I'm not hitting the trail. They gradually loosen up

Okay great, good to know I'm not the only one haha; its not a huge issue since they stay fastened and I just have to retighten them but it kind of annoys me if it gets too loose and the top dips towards the cab. Perfectionist side of me :bananadead:

Hey guys! My softopper arrives Friday, and I’ll be installing it that day. Anything you think that’s helpful to know/tips to make for a smooth install that maybe isn’t in the directions? I appreciate it!

    Just some stuff...
Put a little extra seam sealer where the side straps are sewn in. They tend to act like a wick.

Before you put it on, lay the shell flat inside facing out, and use a paint brush to seal the seams with the seam sealer (it comes with a brush cap that sucks). Paint the sealer on the webbing straps about 1" from the topper down the straps. Order an extra set of clamps. They're cheap and make the rails a bit more solid.

I'm torn, so I'm putting out a feeler to Guage interest. Thinking of selling my softtopper and heavy metal offroad bars. I've got a shot at a great deal on a snugtop. Although I love the versatility and look of a softopper, I rarely remove it and use it primarily for camping.

    Mistake?

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
It appears that the snap rails are slotted to offer ADJUSTMENT for position. WHAT A GREAT IDEA. Fighting snaps is a royal pain!

1/2" PVC pipe and caps, PVC glue, threaded hooks for the bottom side, and threaded eyebolts for the top. I think that the PVC pipes are cut to 18" long, and the hooks and eyebolts have a 3/4" ID. The hooks plug into the holes on my bed stiffeners (usually I use the top hole, unless I was it dropped a bit for some reason) and the eyebolt simply slides over the rear window's crossbar.
