Let me know how it goes, as I just found out my 2012 is no longer covered under the warranty. Fortunately I have yet to see any issues with mine.

I got a quote from SLC area dealership and it's over $700 for the part. Looked online and found a Georgia dealership who has it for a bit more than $400. I'm going to go and see if the dealership will take that price. If they do I'm not even going to deal with Toyota and getting reimbursed. They are so hard to work with in my past experience.

The spiral cable went out on my 06 back in 2014 with the airback light coming on. There was a recall for my year, but my Vin wasn't apart of the recall. Fought them hard and they gave me half back. I was willing to live without cruise control which went out a year or two before that, but not the air bag. About 15 months later my 06 was totaled, so one of the guys in Arizona ended up taking it out before insurance came to grab it from my house.

Don't know if you've gotten an answer and/or solution for this yet, but I have had the same ongoing problem with my 2013 4L. The codes come up as evap system leak and happens every so often after refuel with one sluggish (refusal?) to start. My shop changed a few things and it's happening for my wife (I'm deployed), so I will be taking it back in for another try to remedy. I can't remember what they swapped, but when I get home in a couple weeks I'll get that done and can give you a better answer to what they replaced.

my 2013 TX baja just had the CEL and Trac off lights come on. I haven't had the codes read yet, but I assume it is this same air injection issue. My truck was built in march 13' Since this was the Baja, and it was built in texas and then toyota takes the truck to a different facility at the plant, is there any chance it has the same faulty pump that the 2012 models had? When I search my Vin it says no recalls.. Trying to do some research before I take it to the dealer. Any advice?

I have a 2013 DCSB TX baja that has a 03-13 date on my vin sticker. My truck just had the CEL and TRAC off lights come on, so I'm thinking we both have an issue with the air injection pump

Without knowing the codes it's a pure guess, the TracOff light will almost always come on with the engine light as the traction control relies on the engine control system to be working properly.

The hardware is exactly the same between 2012-2015.

2013-2015 had additional software to run the pump for a few seconds when the truck is turned off. Helped to remove moisture from the valve systems and prevent corrosion.

That’s why I laugh when people say they chose the 2013 over the 2012 to avoid the SAIS problems. The 2012 has a warranty extension campaign where the 2013-2015 do not. My stuff was replaced under the campaign and it’s covered until the end of 2023

I recently replaced my pump and cleared the codes with an OBDii reader. Still no codes 2 weeks later

These codes just came up for me this afternoon. 2.7L Engine 2012 with 280K miles. Now that it is 2022 am I officially too late for recall coverage?

To be clear it is NOT a recall, a recall typically has to do with vehicle safety, can be mandated by NHTSA or be voluntary, and covers all vehicles it applies to regardless or age or mileage.

The SAIS replacement on 2012 trucks is a Special Service Campaign/Customer Satisfaction Program which is more like a voluntary extended warranty on a specific component or system.

That being said I don't know if it applies to 2.7L trucks (not clear in the bulletin) but the coverage period for covered trucks is for 10 years after the date the truck was first put into service (purchased).

The pump is relatively cheap, valves as well. One way to check is to blow into the tube that goes into the valves. If air passes, it means the valve is stuck open IIRC and needs to be replaced; or you can try and clean it up.

I had the CEL/trac-off light on for like two years. Finally checked the price on pumps and it was very cheap on Amazon ($70-80). Install took maybe 10 minutes and the CEL has now been off for 1-2 months. I was (foolishly) looking at SAIS delete's that would cost $350-500 as the the replacement cost at the stealership was a fortune, though it would come with a tuner. DIY was far easier and cheaper.

I had my entire system replaced, then the pump only, all covered by Toyota. But I imagine next time would be on my dime.

I live in a remote part of PR, and getting to a dealership requires putting my truck on a ferry and leaving it for however long at the shop. Assuming they’ll even honor the special service campaign. End up doing a lot of minor stuff myself. I didn’t do the valves, but the pump was easier than changing oil.

Mine was replaced last month. 2012 ACCESS Cab TRD. 160,000 miles. My nephew works with campaigns and recalls at Toyota in Arlington. He told me to remind them a service loaner would be paid for by Toyota under this campaign. It was amazing the dealership came up with an almost new 4Runner and told me to bring it back within a “reasonable” time after being notified the truck was ready. Even hinted a couple of days afterwards would be fine. Guess they wanted the $$. All of the loaners were out until I told them what my nephew said.

I was getting that code for three months and had to disconnect the negative battery terminal every couple of days to reset the computer to take the truck off of mode. I bought the pump and installed it and the same thing happened to a couple of days later. Cleaned all the carbon build up from my throttlebody and cleaned my MAF sensor & code never came back.

Took mine in back in Aug. expecting them to fight me on it, but it was 100% paid by Toyota and no issues. I'm glad I waited to get it replaced instead of in Feb. when I first started dealing with this issue. Was not willing to pay $700 for a part that is none to have issues.
