OME Nitrocharger Sport Break-in?

    Ok. OP was wondering about his nitro charger shocks with stock coils. I’m wondering where do the OME coils come in? I’ll wait.

    You should not expect that changing your shocks magically improves your ride quality during daily driving. Ride quality is more about tuning the shock to its intended use. The stock shocks are likely tuned as good as any for daily driving and while hauling a typical payload.

    It’s when you start taking your truck outside it’s comfort zone (adding or removing weight, changing your spring rates, driving fast over rough surfaces, etc) that you might see some advantages of upgraded shocks.

    A similar thing could be said about aftermarket air intakes and exhausts. No need to change them unless you first substantially raise the horsepower of your engine (e.g. adding forced induction).

    Someone please correct me if I am way off.

    OME 887 with nitro chargers, icon add a leaf ECGS bearing former 886
    I was explaining the spring rate the shocks were designed in conjunction with.

    Do OME springs have any relation to Nitrocharger shocks?

    If you go no more than 2”, it’s perfectly fine, I’m even on stock needle bearings. Only had to do the 4* shim, drives perfect. I’m very happy with my lift.

    I’ve long held that assumption, but I’ve never actually seen a damping curve of any aftermarket shock to know if my assumption is true.

    I’ve watched a video on that exact setup. That’s how they engineered it. I’m not sure about other shocks/brands.

    The only reason I upgraded because I started wheeling my truck. Sport shocks weren’t cutting it for me anymore. I had them for almost 4 years and they worked great, carrying loads, sharp turns at high speeds, light off-roading and just general driving.

    It’s funny when people say stock shocks are junk. They are far from it.

    These nitro chargers are very interesting. They are stiff on street, but when you go off-road and drive high speed on bumpy trails, they become quite plush.

    I guess that makes sense. Did you swap coils or are you running the stock ones? Also did you get soft or firm valving for your struts?

    To achieve a 2” lift, I did 887 coils. I’m
    not planning to run heavy bumper, just an aluminum stump bumper and winch with synthetic rope.

    It’s a good question on valving. I don’t think the shop where I got them from gave me an option. All nitro charger sport shocks should be the same, someone correct me if I’m wrong.

    This kit is definitely on the budget side, but It works great for my needs.

    Gotcha. I bought from shock surplus and it gave me an option for soft or firm valving for the struts. I chose soft. I don't think the rear shocks have any sort of options, they are prolly all the same like you said.
