I keep my truck super clean and have only used products on the touchscreen that say they’re safe for that surface. Yet I still have smudges that won’t wipe off. Mostly looks like it’s where I touch the screen with my fingers. I never have chemicals on my hands or anything like bug spray or sunscreen so it’s not likely that I’ve damaged the screen. Any suggestion on how to clean up a touchscreen?

Live with it, depending on which touchscreen you have it is highly likely that the fingerprints you are seeing are indeed permanent damage to the screen, the only products that might remedy the issue would either damage the touchscreen or it may require polishing to fix, which is not something in most people's wheelhouse.

even if you thoroughly washed your hands every time before you drive, sweat, oils, residues from interior protectant on the wheel, and even the roughness of your skin will cause some damage to the screen over time.

If it’s permanent then these screens suck. I have just under 20,000 miles on my truck and I rarely mess with the radio at all. I’ve barely touched the screen at all. I thought the screen was glass like a phone screen but it has some fine scratches just from careful cleaning. Disappointing.

I was going to use glass cleaner but was afraid to because I don’t know what it’s made of. It’s a 2019 if that helps. It does look like glass but the fine scratches make me wonder if it’s some sort of plastic.

Not sure if I'm doing it right, but I use a ceramic detailing spray and a microfiber cloth to clean the touchscreen and instrument cluster cover. Make sure to use an extra spray or two so that the cloth is well lubricated to avoid scratches.

If any of the suggestions here work, think about putting a screen protector on it once you get it cleared up.

Meguiars interior detailing spray and an old Oakley sunglasses bag. Works better than microfiber.

What about those windex for electronics wipes? I've seen them before, but have yet to try it.
