    Hey all,

I recently went back to stock-ish on my truck as I need it to be more DD friendly and gonna sell in the next year or 2. Just hit 100k on it!

Anyways, I bought some like-new OEM take-off leaf springs off a member here from a '21 OR DCLB. They have been installed and the truck seems to drive just fine. I forget how great stock feels for every day driving.

I remember reading that they did a TSB back in '16-'17 for the leafs and added a small shim to them. I remember the stock leafs off my '18 had them as well.

However, these leafs I just installed do not have the shims. Is it ok that I'm not running the shims? I'm pretty sure the '16s didn't have them, so wondering if I'm OK. I read one other thread where someone also said their long bed didn't come with shims and it was a late-build 2017. However I'm on a short bed, so not sure if thats an issue or not. The leafs are supposed to be identical otherwise. So I'm not really sure what the the deal is and which trucks have or need them.

    Any help appreciated!

I do not remember these shims you are referring to. Were they attached to the leaf packs? I still have my stock take offs in my garage and to my knowledge I did not throw any parts away when I installed my new leafs. I could check them for this shim. Maybe send you a pic. I have a 2020 DCSB (short wheelbase).

So apparently around 2017 there was a TSB to fix driveline vibrations that some people were having issues with. So they started attaching tiny (1 or 2 degree?) shims to the leaf packs. But some people claimed their packs didn't have them, and some like myself had them come stock with their trucks.

I wish I never sold my original leafs! Oh well, I'm hoping its not a big deal either way.

Ah I see. I’ve never had any vibe issues with either set of leafs. I think you can buy aftermarket shims cheap.

My lift kit came with OME Dakar medium leafs, a carrier bearing shim, but no leaf spring shim. I have a 1.5-2” lift in back and no issues before or after.

Personally I wouldn’t worry about it until I had an issue.

yeah I hear you, thanks. I think I was more wanting to see which trucks came with it, and which didn't.

    A few.
My 2019 has them, came from factory with them. When I installed the 1" rear lift blocks I left the shims in.

Yeah from what I've read they started shipping with them after 2016. However, it seems the long beds DON'T have them for some reason. Since I put those leafs on my short bed, I'm just wondering if its ok. I'm assuming since the '16s had them it still works, because many probably didn't get the TSB to have the shims added and are still running strong.
