I wish the mileage from 2.7L was that good; Is yours manual or automatic?

I have an almost identical setup from my old 2019 2.7 auto ext cab with 34’s to my current 2021 4-door v6 auto with 34’s, both 4WD.

I’m getting 14-16 mpg, just about identical to the 2.7 mpg’s. The 2021 has so much more get up and go….

I can get my V6 dash display to read like that. Just fill up and drive super easy on the way home. I have seen upwards of 40mpg. IMO people need to stop posting pics of their trucks mpg and do real world fill up , reset trip, drive until empty, fill up , divide miles driven and gallons put in. Do that 4 times and average them out and then let me know if you are still getting 30mpg.

My best fuel economy has been stock on highways or towing through mountain passes. City fuel economy sucks, usually around 15-16L/100km. Stock highway driving was about 10L/100km and after big tires, canopy, and hauling 600lb in the bed and another 2800-3000 towed (trailer weight and load combined) I was getting a pretty solid 14L/100km.

I’ve filled up only twice but have gotten 25.2 and 24.8 with my new Taco 3.5 4x4.
I think the smaller tires on the SR5 make quite a bit of difference. I usually got 21-22 mpg with my 2018 trd or.

    Oh look, another mod....
The tires do make a big difference. The SR5 has "street" tires, not off road tires. I had an SR5 as a loaner vehicle for a few days last year, and I got in the high upper 20's when I was driving it.

What we need is regenerative braking like a Tesla. That way riding the brakes down those mountain passes stuck behind a rental Nissan has a purpose!

Or something like that. I’ll hold my breathe for royalties from this genius idea lol
