What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I just took off some old fender stickers and the $10 rubber wheel drill attachments from Amazon work awesome. It’s like a high speed rubber eraser that uses friction to get the old vinyl and glue off without hurting the paint at all.

 

Looks clean, camera and steering wheel controls all work?

 

Everything is OEM.... steering wheel control, Aux, USB. And sound is 10x better.

The key is using the

$75 Crux SWRTY 61N Radio Replacement with SWC & OE RVC Retention (for Toyota Vehicles 2012-Up)

Crux SWRTY 61N which just came with the kit, all wired up. And, Crutchfield even set the 8 pin code on the back. Really plug and play and only needed support because of me being dumb.

 

Nice setup, I’ve been meaning to upgrade the stock stereo in my 06 using the scosche bezel with upgraded wiring harness and was looking to incorporate front and rear cameras as well. By any chance could you shoot me a parts list? This is pretty on par with what I’m hoping to do.

Nothing today except drive to and from work, no three day weekend for me.

Tomorrow I plan on installing my Bushwacker flares, "TOYOTA" decal on the tailgate and retro stripes to the side of the bed.

the best way to do this, if your a bit wire shy like me, is to add the head unit you want, select the recommended install kit, and have Crutchfield set up the harness for $24. Bought the Sosche kit on Amazon, it’s the only one there. PM me if you have any questions.

 

Ordered a harbor freight 1.5 ton jack because the one I was using is definitely not safe. The handle is short so anytime I have to jack up the front crossmember or the rear diff I end up having to crawl under the truck to get any leverage on the handle. As soon as it arrives I’m gonna replace my shocks and UCAs with the 3rd gen TRD-OR takeoffs I have sitting in my garage.

 

Careful, dude couple towns over died under his truck the other day.

 

Finally got past the break in period for my new gears so I did front and rear diffs with Redline 75w90NS fluid. Hauled another yard of mulch home and installed my BAMF bedrack. the tent will go on tomorrow or Monday.
Also installed this since I got about 100 of them from work the other week although I have to admit I'm not sure what's so dangerous about it.

Between tomorrow and Monday I'm hoping to install my rtt tent, Dobinson's snorkel and new Infinity component speakers.

 

Installed URD cam gears! With the help of @Shadowhunter , not the worst job I've done, but nerve racking forsure. Truck feels more responsive throughout the rpm range, butt Dino says it added about 200 horsepower.

I guess I also replaced both valve cover gaskets, throttle body Gasket, and manifold gaskets too

 

I love mine, noticeably smoother idle as well.

Yeah I was using a pole as a handle extender but in order to open the valve to lower it I have to unscrew a little bolt near the bottom using the handle. Super sketchy so I knew I had to get something else.

 

Got the letters on, and redid the wiring with solder and heat shrink.

 

Got the rear done today minus the hammer hangers (didn’t feel like dealing with that ). Fox shocks, icon leaf pack, wheelers flip kit & superbumps.

 

Does your back up camera display on the screen? If so, was it plug and play, or take extra steps?

 

Got rid of my cracked and leaking headlights/tail lights today. I also lost my grille surround so had to buy/paint another. Finished that and installed along with the headlights.
