Ya I saw that. That was a horrific video. Not the best idea to hold a mortar in your hand.

Ex worked with a guy who was big into the 4th of July (and the company owner). They used a material that was especially explosive and had to be handled with extreme care as it was sensitive to shock. Fast forward to the weekend. He went into the lab by himself to build whatever it was. He was carrying the vial of the material in his lab coat pocket and in his hand when it went off. He was left with his fucker finger and pinkie. Surgeons grafted his big toe onto his thumb, opened his belly and stuffed the result in to help with the healing.

When I met him for the first time, his hand looked like a dinosaur hand. They called him blast behind his back. And oh yeah, he had a PhD and knew what this stuff was capable of

 

My pops blew his pinky off when he was young. He got lucky. One day at work a coworker asked him what time they were starting Saturday morning. My dad being a smart ass lifted his hand up without saying anything....... Needless to say, the guy showed up at 5, my dad was at work at 4. Lol. True story
