Does anyone know if the OEM roof rack has unique branding or markings vs aftermarket "oem" roof racks found on Amazon? Found a set on offerup for a decent deal but i have doubts on authenticity.

    Thanks!!

I have a factory OEM roof rack, when in use, NOISEY! It was a big surprise for me. Why couldn’t Toyota design a quieter style?

I added Ski racks for carrying fishing poles ,fishing gaffs, and tent poles. The ski racks added more noise, I did add a wind deflector, help just a little.86EDE0AA-C583-43A2-93D7-78DDA95102F1.jpg

Would you rather not have the oem rack? Truthfully, not sure how often I would use it, but the deal I found is great if oem. I've heard of really bad fitment issues with knockoff "oem" racks.

I was shocked at how loud the OEM rack was as well. I ended up upgrading to the grand sherpa Teton and it’s actually quieter

My son has a aftermarket, Thule roof racks with the bazooka ski racks on his 2016 Tacoma. These are noisy too.

In Hawaii any vehicle with Ski racks, means they are shoreline fisherman. The most popular way to carry our “Ulua fishing poles”.

I look at the Sherpa Teton Roof Track load bar system $275+ . Unless it has a wind defector? It looks noisy to me. Off course I would add a ski rack to it. But I could be wrong too.

In time you will learn to live with the additional noise. Sometimes I will not notice it at all. Just like my wife, I notice no noise…lol

Is the OEM roof rack still noisy when the crossbars are closed?

Mine is not. That's one of the reasons I went OEM on the roof rack. I only use it occasionally to tote light stuff like aluminum ladders and its perfect for stuff like that. But when not needed, the cross bars store inline with the wind flow and you don't even know it's up there.

When the roof bars are close, you will hear no noise. Only when it is open, and the faster you drive, the louder it becomes.

My roof rack is always open due to having the Ski racks.

I think it is worth getting the factory OEM roof racks, for those times when you need it.

No but I hated the way it looked when closed. But yes much quieter when stowed like this.

On top of that you are very limited what you can actually put up there due to the weight limitation of it.
