    Hello all,

I have a 21 TRD OR 4x2 and need to route a harness from the battery to a scooter lift o have attracted to the tow hitch.

What is the best route down the engine bay to the rear bumper of the truck?

The harness provides the power to the lift as the built in tow hitch plug only provides power for the tag light on the lift

Thanks for any feedback yaw have.

    Michael

The easiest route from the battery to the rear is right down the driver side. From the battery go straight back above the wheel well under the components till you get to the frame. Tuck inside the frame all the way back to the hitch.

    Awesome, thank you!

I haven’t had a chance to get under there and look; I’ll have my son help me with it later this week.

Hi Micheal, does your truck have the 7 pin trailer connection? If it does you should be able to get a male 7 pin adapter and wire it up for the lift. It has auxiliary power pin for charging trailer battery. You would have to check power requirement for your lift. Might work well for you. Robert.

Ah, thanks for the info. I’ll check into that. I would have thought the lift would have worked plugged into the hitch

The lift has 7 pin male adapter? Did you have the engine running when you tried it? The other possibility is the lift connection does not match the wiring on the truck, might need to rewire the lift connection.
Hope it works out for you, Robert.

Looking at the instructions it has the wiring harness that’s to be connected directly to the battery run under the vehicle to the rear. The lift wiring is a pin connector, I believe 5 pin and then the harness from the battery is two pin with 10gage wire.

Your 5 pin is for controlling the lift with wired remote? I'm saying you can access 12 volt power from the 7 pin trailer connector without running wires all the way to your battery. You can make a pigtail from the 7 pin connector to the connector on your lift power connection. Maybe that will work for you. Robert.

Your lift came with 10 gauge wire, yeah the positive on the 7 pin most likely won't supply enough amperage. Sorry for thinking I could save you a wiring job.
Hope running your wires goes smooth as possible.
    Cheers, Robert.
