What the hell is going on and what happened to where your guy needed to go the ER?!

 

cam install. getting the timing chain on shit went bad. in the er now.

almost finished with the last cam going in. i turned around and hes screaming. somehow caught his finger between the cam gear and chain. crushed finger. 90mph to the hospital. im watching him getting sticthed up now. shitty deal.

Sounds like maybe the cam rotated enough to snag a finger. Like when rocking the cam and the next lobe rotates. I snagged my nitrile glove at the tip as well.

 

Oh crap. That's not good!

I remember when I was doing my install I saw the cam rotate as well a little bit right at the end and I thought to myself as I did it, "well, I definitely don't want to have my fingers in the way of that."

As for your buddy, I hope he's doing better. Quite some time from now, the two of you will look back at this like it was a bad dream and have a laugh about it.

 

i believe thats exactly what happend. hand surgeon on tuesday. doctor thinks they can save his finger.
truck is down until further notice. dont know what to do.

 

Send him my best. It is really unfortunate and good thing for modern medicine.

It really just goes to show how fragile we are as humans and how in the blink of an eye your life can change.

 

thanks for the support fellas. this is a tw guy but i dont want to give out his handle. only thing i can wish aside from healing is spreading the word to be careful. parts under tension should never be under estimated.

Has anyone ever replaced the o-ring on the spacer for the water pump outlet? I checked the trd s/c installation manual and it just lists a large o-ring with no part number. But it looks like I could just order another outlet o-ring for the spacer as they appear to be the same.

 

It’s the same one. Just make sure to always have an extra one. It can be a pita to replace and easy to destroy while installing.

 

I’m guessing for the dual vvti 1gr. But really. Should still fit correct!!???

 

I’m pretty sure this is for a single VVTi.

Man… this might be a game changer if it’s true.

Most likely a dual vvti 1gr. No oil filter on the head plus the Aussies didn't get the Fj till 2011.

No. Different port shapes. Would need two different lower intake manifolds which I'm not sure they're willing to do
