    If'n you have so much crap that you can't fit any more crap into your truck without stuffing it up on the roof, yer haulin' entirely too much crap.


    I personally wouldn't put more than 100 on a dedicated roof rack, as that's the stated capacity from Toyota. I know aftermarket systems are more stout and are designed for way more than "100 lbs evenly distributed," but there are more variables at play than what the B and C pillars can hold. Namely, the higher you store cargo, the higher your CoG. Safety is an issue way before crush-point is achieved.

    Heavy crap goes in the bed. Less heavy crap goes on a bed-rack or wears a seatbelt. Spare linens and maybe a kayak goes on the roof.
