Hi, is the sos button in the 2020 Tacoma cell based or satellite based?

Thanks, wish it was satellite based.

By any chance does anyone know if Safety Connect is built into the head unit?

Or what houses the modem and what houses the Sat connection?

I'm trying to plan out a few mods down the line.

On my 2019 Tacoma, (pre sos button) the sat appears to be apart of the head unit and when I had a Raspberry Pi on the dash that had issues, it would jam it's signal.

Garmin InReach works well for me. If you solo voyage off-grid in the boonies pay for the SAR insurance. I'd rather take a dirt nap in the boonies than be saved and spend the rest of my days paying off a couple of hundred grand in debt from SAR birds and hiking teams sent to find me.
