I did these and kicker 6x9cs's and it was a VAST improvement over stock. The tweeters made the biggest difference IMO. Much more vocal clarity.

Agreed... with the stock tweeters, I had treble all the way up.
With these, I have to dial it down about 3-4 bars.... they gets loud fasho.

Direct. I think they're going back though. They don't sound any better than factory and even kind of worse than factory.

@WhiskeyHole Mine seem to overpower the rest of my stock unit. They’re the clearest sound in my truck currently.

Which ones are you going with the replace these?

I think they sound better than the stock, IMO. But also, yeah, they overpower the unit too. It's almost as they drown out the bass a little more.
I just dialed down the Treble on the audio settings to about 7/10 and its perfect.
But again, to each their own. For $60, meh... whatev.

Yeah sounds like I received a bad set. The speaker box was haggard and the cones had made indentations in the cardboard and the shipping box was a half of an old FedEx envelope that was stapled together. I'm out $6 for return shipping which sucks. Would have expected better when ordering direct.

Do you guys unplug your truck battery before doing this install? I watched a video with the installation, and one guy said nothing about it, and another said to do so. Just an amateur making sure I do things correctly.

I'm going to disconnect the battery when I do the tweeter install. Messing around near the airbags could go poorly if there is power to them.
