No complaints with my 15 OR. You'll be able to climb speed bumps at the mall no problem. I thought i would get more use out of the locking diff being in a snowy area with steep hills, but i more or less turn it on every now and then just to cycle it. Checked all fluids when i bought and they were good. No mechanical issues as of yet.

No clock on dash isnt a big deal to me, but my biggest complaint would be no outside temp that doesn't rely on downloaded info. First world problems i know, just a stupid way to cheap out. I use an ultragauge, so i dont miss all the fancy mileage calculators that the 3rd gen prob has.
Lastly, my opinion, and i did say my opinions so save it, i am still waiting another year or two for the 3rd gens to season and get the bugs out. Thats more me and why i bought a 15 knowing it would be the last year. I honestly dont know much about the third gens dont follow the forums, other than i like the looks a lot better. I just tend to wait longer than others on new models.

May have run into another Timo…pretty rare occurrence. Do you happen to know if it’s possible to install a temp and compass mirror on a 2014?

I’m biased towards the 13’s, mine has been solid.

Only thing I would caution is 040 paint. Pretty well documented on here it’s not if but when it will take a shit on you.

Other than Tacoma specific, just be smart about general issues. Travel at 25, 35, …75 and check for cab/steering vibration. Might be long enough for some codes to come on if previously cleared. Get a good look under the truck, but also you can reach out to a reputable shop and explain you want some sort of enhanced inspection as a potential buyer. They can give some good insight.

    Aren’t “late second gens” 2012-2015? They’re the 2.5 years (or so I thought…)

My 2015 AC base 2.7/auto 4x4 has been ok for the past 2 years that I've owned it. While not a "mechanical" issue, the seats are just horrible for me. I can't go much more then 3 hours of driving before my lower back is hurting so bad that I can't take the pain. I had to replace the suspension, it was just shot at 90K when I got the truck. I was able to find very low mileage 3rd gen Off-Road suspension ( including leaf springs) for a great deal and installed them. The 4 banger is ok with an empty bed but when the bed is loaded or when I'm pulling the 5x10 utility trailer, it's pretty sad.

I'm curious how the whole Carvana thing works as far accepting the vehicle once it shows up.
