Wild internet theory of the day. Obiwan admitted he had a brother. In an interview George Lucas said that a seen was cut (forgot what movie) where someone said Obiwan's brothers name was Owen, Owen Lars. Uncle Owen is Obiwan's brother. In theory.

Edit- found it, Lucas’ original trilogy loves a family twist, and when Return of the Jedi was released in 1983, the screenplay originally revealed Obi-Wan as the brother of Owen Lars, aka Uncle Owen, who was left in charge of Luke Skywalker on Tatooine. Although this didn’t make the final cut, Return’s novelization still includes a line referring to “[his] brother Owen.” The 1995 Premiere Limited set of the Star Wars Customizable Card Game also named Owen Lars as “the brother of Obi-Wan Kenobi.”

 

That's getting a little too Space-hillbilly for my tastes.

The brother of Anakin's step-brother is Anakin's master. Because in a universe with who-knows-how-many planets populated by a trillion or so people, Everyone's gotta be related.

How does everyone feel about Leia constantly hearing people call Ben by the name of Obi-Wan ? Knowing only that in Episode 4(original movie) that Leia refers to Obi-Wan as someone who served her father in the Clone Wars ? And not, "hey Ben, you remember me? I'm the kid you helped rescue after I was kidnapped? "

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the show, but I keep getting hung up on the kid knowing Ben before she should be familiar with him. Am I making sense ?

 

It doesn't quite fit. You think instead of "Years ago you served my father in the clone wars" it would be "Years ago you rescued me and saved my life". It's a small detail that most probably won't connect when watching the show.

 

How much do you remember from when you were 10 yrs old tho?

 

All sorts of holes in the logic there are….Making perfect sense are you.

I try not to think about them and just enjoy new stories with familiar characters.

 

Yeah. I totally hear you. I remember a few toys, or really neat birthday parties/etc from being a kid.

But, to think that she wouldn't remember being kidnapped, having her Droid smashed in front of her and then hopping at least 3 separate planets with somw guy named"Ben" seems to stretch credulity a little too far. To me, anyway.

 

Regardless, your going to remember the guy that saved you from falling to your death. Unless it happens a lot...

 

It's almost like, at some point in the future when she's in trouble and doesn't know who to turn to, she reaches out to the first person who comes to mind...

 

This would be an awesome movie premise. We just need to find a producer!
