Well shop in St Joe says he will look at the truck no problem. Hoping for the best. He seems to think the head gasket went as it happened instantly as we were driving. Won't know for sure until he climbs in there and sees what's up. Seems it's a bit hard to find machine shop that'll work on the heads though.

As in decking them? Any shop could run an endmill across a head. Redoing cylinder walls though would be harder but not undoable. Might be easier to re-sleeve if they are gouged up.
If I had a mill and a nice 8"+ Octo I could do it no problem.

If everything is on the up and up, and you caught it before the head gasket caused any other issues, it's a really simple fix.
Head off, re-deck the mating surfaces, new gasket, drain and flush fluids, refill, boom done. If cylinder walls are messed up (which would indicate needing new piston rings and potentially honing), then you may have a harder time.

 

I'm not the most mechanically inclined but I would imagine if the head gaskets are getting replace it should be machined? The mechanic I took it to didn't mention the heads needing much if it was the head gaskets that gave out. Although he's not really sure what's in store till I take the truck to his shop.

 

Really depends on if its out. I have an indicator we could run across it.

 

If its something that can be checked I'd imagine the mechanic that I'm take it too will check to see if it needs it. I won't be able to work on it. Gonna be gone the next few weeks and I don't have the time for it either.
