Gear Oil

For those who have drained and filled their differentials, are you using 75W-85 or

$30 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)

75W-90 gear oil? I can’t seem to find 75W-85 anywhere.

 

I just picked up two gallons of Lucas 75w90 for $80 shipped. It’s GL5 and will be perfectly fine for the diffs

75w-90 is the common gear oil to go to.

Redline has 75w85, its synthetic and its good fluid. 75w85 is an oddball fluid type you won't find in most stores. Lots of people run 75w90 with no bad side effects.

Better do this while we can. I heard that gear oil is shooting up in prices. No idea why.

 

I just did the t case and diffs
With the kit from Blauparts (ravenoil)
it’s the 75w85

I went with the Redline 75W-85, it seems I gained a tiny bit of MPG, not huge but a gain just the same.

 

I put full synthetic 75w90 Super Tech in rear diff, and am pretty happy.

 

I like how the original person already got their question answered, and found another thread regarding the same issue, but everyone feels like they need state what they do and use. Lol

 

Better to have too much info instead of not enough ? Right ? Lol

 

For what it’s worth, my local dealer told me they fill all three with 75-90W (Front, TCase, Rear). I opted for the Toyota fluid for the TCase but 75-90 in the diffs.

 

Looking at the owners manual for rear diff capacities - it lists various amounts for auto trans. So what is the most common capacity?

 

It’s whatever, the more info the better
