Brother in law surprised me yesterday with this find while he was out junking. He bought a box with a bunch of stuff in it at the Rogers Flea Market and found this with the other stuff in the box. There were a couple model kits in it as well which I passed on. Told me happy birthday and to keep it. It is a Ertel 1/24 scale metal Chevrolet Pickup. It had a lot of brown mold all over it including on the door decals. I sprayed it down with Westley's white wall cleaner and was surprised how nice this thing is. Even the decals cleaned up. I wont mess with it. These were out in the late 1970s, early 80s. I saw some similar on eBay between $12 and $90. I guess I had better be quite about not being able to find Hot Wheels when I have a brother in law like that.Tacomaworld 2022 404.jpg Tacomaworld 2022 406.jpg

Just got back from the Randolph swap meet with very little. I bought several cars with Real Riders for $3 each just to get the wheels. Most were beat up. About hit the floor with some 55 Chevy Gassers Hot Wheels going for $55. I told the vendor it was only worth $15-20 to me and that you priced yourself out of most people's markets including mine. Very little under $10 unless its stuff nobody wants. 55 Chevy Gassers were $12-$15 that you guys post everyday here. Damn vultures.

We have 2 major flea markets and several smaller ones. There are 9 large swap meets and another 5 or 6 dealership swap meets every year here in Northeast Ohio. It's great for places to go but these guys are making a living gouging people and making it impossible to find anything on your own. I was at a Toys R Us several years ago with my brother when all these guys showed up before the store opened. They were arguing with each other who was going to get first dibs. I told my brother to just block the Hot Wheels like we were going to muscle them out and then watched them fall over themselves to beat us there. We didn't even bother trying. It really is that bad. Finding somebody's stash or just getting lucky maybe 3 or 4 times a year is about it here. I need to get a new hobby.

It’s the same up here in NH. Not much at the Walmart near me. There is an auto swap at New England drag way the last Sunday of the month. Lots of people selling die cast cars but for way more than what they are worth. I also go to a Hot Wheels show in Marlboro Mass on the 3rd Sunday of the month. Much better luck there lots of cars usually 3 for $5. I mostly go there to hang out talk and try to find some customs.

    Thank goodness for online shopping.
At Randolph even the model kits were crazy. An unopened box kit was $30+. Previously opened kits were $20-25 each. Inflation is hitting there too. Lucked out picking up 3 sets of Real Rider wheels that a guy did a poor job customizing the cars I bought,
Going to Thompson today for Gasser Reunion in a few minutes. They have a small swap meet there.

1/24 die-cast 78 F150 wheel drive before and after pictures. The way it came I just didn't prefer. I removed the brush guard and roll bar and then shortened the running boards. Also reshot the wheels silver and added an extra tailgate trim decal. I finished the grill and headlight buckets in black as they should be and replaced some of the missing chrome trim. I left the paint alone but did remove the excessive silver trim they used to try to hide the design flaw with the bed.If you look closely to the upper bed trim by side marker lights they forgot to mold the actual trim into that area and tried to hide it with silver paint.Tacomaworld 2022 006.jpg Tacomaworld 2022 003.jpg Tacomaworld 2022 004.jpg Tacomaworld 2022 107.jpg Tacomaworld 2022 108.jpg Tacomaworld 2022 109.jpg Tacomaworld 2022 110.jpg

Broke down and bought this one today. I think I would officially making the switch to 1:43 if the variety was as good as 1/64 now haha.

Arrived today! I wish it had the removable rear piece like the Tomica cars do, showing the engine detail but I still love it!
