I have that fence and the roller guides. Both are worth the money.

I got a Wards Master No. 4 hand plane for 30 yesterday at a flea market. It had never been shapened. Just used till it was duller that it started and left to rust.
Spent about a hour and a half flattening, and sharpening the huge chips out of the blade. It is cutting very well now.
It is still ugly, but it works perfectly.

This Wards Master is a rebadged Stanley.
He had a bunch of old planes, but this was the only one I could really do anything with.

I take that back. I just found a name scribed in it and the edge isn't square. Probably a quick hand sharpening

    I think it works excellent!

secure the board down and pull back towards you and it comes off nicely.. obviously don't use a heavy hand as you can gouge the wood. I try to minimize glue removal to begin with by wiping off the squeeze out but there's always going to be some.. knock off the big stuff with the scraper and a trip through the planer and/or drum sander and all is well.

I just bit the bullet and paid retail for mine. It sucks but so does endless sanding! Flat is better!
