2nd Gen Tacoma, Maestro/rto1 wiring help

2007 Tacoma Double Cab TRD

Hi, I am installing a Kenwood DMX957 with the rto1 wiring harness. A couple of the wires are confusing me. The maestro instructions say to connect the VSS and Reverse wires on the Maestro rto1 harness to the Kenwood wires. But where do they attach from the car to the Maestro? The radio connectors do not carry those wires, I have them brought in as separate wires that I tapped into behind the glovebox.

Just attach directly to the kenwood harness and ignore the ones on the rto1?
