I have a 2007 auto 2wd double cab long bed with around 130k miles. On the highway usually on the way home from work I start to get a slight steering wheel shake which then turns into the entire truck shaking and shuddering which I feel in the wheel and through my foot on the pedal. This usually last's 10-20 seconds then instantly stops. I had my leaf springs replaced during the recall and just had my tires rebalanced. I only happens on the highway when at 60+ for a consistent time never in stop and go traffic or driving around town. I do not have any warning lights on the dash. I also don't hear any weird noises or feel any clunking when shifting from drive to N to park to reverse. Does anyone have a clue?

I was having this happen to me too. I checked wheel bearings, everything with steering, upper and lower control arms and even had the wheels balanced. Ever time from 55-60ish it would come and go just as quick. Started to get weird wear on my tires ( Chevrons and Cupping) The tires also were also getting loud.

Rotated the tires and all the problems went away. Going in this week to get the truck aligned to see if maybe that is the cause for the weird wear before I smoke all 4 tires.

I have a strange feeling one of the belts maybe broken in one of the tires. This winter from a dead stop the truck slid across two lanes of ice and popped over the curb before stopping.

Sounds like an out of balance tire. Might have lost wheel weights. Rotate tires and see if the feeling moves.

Have the tire store double check and make sure you don’t have a broken belt in any of the tires. Check the suspension for any worn parts.

Agree with above, check the tires for separation and balance, and /or rotate them and see if it improves

I had them re balanced but how do I check for a broken belt in a tire? It's so odd cause this shudder only happens on occasion like I can drive 60 all the way to work and it's usually fine it seems to mostly happen at night when I'm on my way home and it's always on the same stretch of highway like between 2 exits and like I said it goes into a bad shake and shudder then instantly just stops.

Would a bad carrier bearing just act up on occasion and not make any noise? All the videos I watched of bad carrier bearings say it's a constant vibration and noise at way lower speeds.

It's a bad shudder and shake in the wheel and floorboard but seems to only happen at night on the way home. I just made it to work cruising around 60mph and everything was butter smooth but I bet tonight I'll have the damn shudder and shake. I'm almost curious if it has something to do with the temperature. I'm in South Florida so it's always hot and muggy but it's so odd it only happens on the way home at night and never on side streets driving around town.

As long as it says Toyota WS transmission fluid it is fine to use in your transmission. Just don't use it on your power steering system.

It's so odd cause I only get the shudder at night and it's only on this certain stretch of highway. I have tried all the lanes thinking maybe it was something to do with a poor road surface but it's still the same. I'm in South Florida so the temp pretty much stays the same and I can't think of why it mainly happens at night. Today I made it work doing 70mph in the day time without a single issue. I'm going to do the drain and fill anyways but I'm so baffled.

Yea I feel the stiff suspension it's stock with 1" lift and this problem came out of nowhere. It only happens on my way home at night and it's between the same few exits. Not sure if it's a temperature thing or what cause I'm in Florida so it's always pretty humid and warm. I have no issues on side roads and the shifting is smooth.
