My Samsung watch can record riding time but nothing like that! That's pretty cool for a watch.

Kinda related, I just picked up my bike from the shop where they were chasing down a couple of creaks. I had them replace my stem with the one I'll link below. This was so I can get what they call a bendr to mount a Garmin GPS like Mike and Zachs.

It has tons of useless info including cadence, foot striking metrics, and a whole bunch of other random biking and swimming metrics when you wear the chest strap heart rate monitor.

I just use it for pace, heart rate, and distance.

Cadence is kinda a holdover from yesteryear. It still has a place for top athletes telling you what your average spin rate is. Years ago before these new systems/metrics you could only keep track of time riding, distance, cadence etc. It's a whole different world now!

Well that's fancy. That's crazy your brand new bike is making creaking noises.

It's quite common actually. It's all set now and maybe just maybe got a little more carbon on it...

Sounds like a diabolical plan to get you to spend more monies at the bike shop.

They all creak, that’s why you get a loud rear hub to drown out the noises. That said, my aluminum bike is pretty quiet… :anonymous:

The only noises my basic aluminum mountain bike makes is the internally routed cables sometimes hitting the inside of the frame.:notsure:

No not at all. They threw in the much more expensive stem and I had been eyeing the bars since before i picked up the bike. They even discounted the bars for me so the whole thing was less than 50% off retail.

Speaking of spending money, the new toy was delivered while camping this weekend. Came with a bent derailleur, so going to replace that on my own this week (or repurpose the one on my older bike), but will be ready to rock and roll for VT. Went for a ride at F. Gilbert Hills this weekend and as someone else here can attest, the moto trails are punishing and definitely took a toll on all. Broke a spoke on my carbon wheels so need to get that fixed up, but worst comes to worst, I will use the Stans wheels that came with the Fezzari. Won't have the killer bees flying behind me on the i9 hub, but we all have to make sacrifices.

Yep, will likely still have some gnarly scars lingering by the time VT gets here….

Bring that wheel to Milford bike. They will get it fixed up in no time and for short money.

    What happened? Did you wreck?

No, we never wreck, we either eat shit or perform random gravity checks. I can confirm, gravity is still very much a thing at Gilbert Hills…. I scrapped up my arm and leg pretty good, have a nice bruise on my back and my helmet saved me from what would have easily been the worst of it. Still continued the ride, just with a little more caution and sporting a bloodied and battered body.

that’s the plan . Wheels and shocks are the two items I’m not comfortable getting involved with. Not sure I want to learn on these ones either

Well glad to hear that you didn't wreck! Lol

I'm with you there. I'd like to learn to work on that stuff but not at the expense of messing up my stuff. In other news I just ordered a bike torque wrench + bits to go with it and I want to get a stand soon.

Those trails in Milford, MA (vietnam), am I going get lost/ dead in there if I had there by myself? They are literally in the next town over and about 10 minutes from my house.

There's a good maze of trails in there. It'd help to have some sort of navigation if you're not familiar with it. Also, don't roll over anything you can't see over, some of those trails are jump trails and not everything is a roller. There's a specific trail called 'Mind the Gap' that you don't want to slow roll any of the features for obvious reasons. It's a very fun place, the trails are a lot of fun but you can get turned around in there. You wouldn't get dead going down any of the trails, they're not that hairy.
