Does anybody have any suggestion on getting these bushings and sleeves out on rack and pinion. I was trying to replace the bushings and one side came out, but the other is stuck. The middle part of the bushing came out on both sides and the metal sleeve that touches the inside is stuck. 350k miles on these. Thanks

I was hoping I could've gotten one side out and then beat the other one out. But I'm stuck with two mangled sides. Should I try heating. I've sprayed the piss out of them and no luck. I did try with a pickle fork. It worked on the passenger side. Thanks

Fish a hacksaw blade through the hole, if it’ll fit, and cut a slit into the inner bushing. Once all the way through get a chisel/punch and try folding the bushing inward pealing it off the rack around it.

Another option is if you have a welder try to weld around the inside on the bushing. As the weld bead cools it will shrink the bushing too. I’ve seen welding bend 4in by 4in 1/4 wall square tubing before so there’s plenty of force behind it

Bushing is 2 pieces . In middle see if you got enough of a gap between the 2 to use a punch to tap it out . Thats how I did mine . But then again mine didnt have the corrosion yours has .
