Hey guys so I’ve got this 2010 Tacoma that I bought from the dealership last April. I knew about the frame issues so I asked them to inspect it plus they did the safety. I made a post here a few days ago with some pics of my frame and every comment said it was dangerously bad unsafe etc. on the phone with the dealership they said the warranty was expired in 2020 so I couldn’t even get the inspection anymore but they’re boss is in tomorrow and I could speak with him. Just wanted to ask your thoughts on the situation if the dealer had any obligation they’re hiding from me or if this could have been a sneaky salesman etc anyways thanks!

12 years form date of first use.
If you have a 2010, you better get on top of it quick. There is still a chance yours is under warranty.

YOU NEED TO KNOW THE DATE OF FIRST USE. AKA: When it was Sold.

Make an account on Toyota website. Then enter your VIN. It will tell you there. Or call Toyota Corporate.

The rust program is over for your truck. The dealer that sold is to you is not responsible for anything now.

IDK, If OP’s truck was sold in, let say October or 2010. He would still have until October of 2022?

OP, I wouldn’t rely on people off an Internet forum to give me advice on a $15,000+ asset. I’d go to the official claim settlement site and learn the facts.

I should first say, I don’t know the answer to your question.
I haven’t stayed up on this recall since mine expired in 2019.

I’m not good at deciphering legal jargon.

But the way I read it is,

    1. If your frame passes the inspection AND you live in a Cold Climate area. You will get a free CRC application.

    2. If your truck passes the inspection and, you DO NOT live in a cold climate area, you will NOT get a free CRC application.

    3. If your frame FAILS inspection, you get a free frame. (No matter where you live)

No where do I see it stated that you need to live on a Cold Climate state.

Here is what I’m basing my assumption off of

    • If qualifying rust perforation is not found, and the vehicle is located in a Cold Climate State, the dealer will apply Corrosion Resistant Compound (CRC) and/or install frame plugs to key areas of the vehicle’s frame FREE OF CHARGE to the owner under Limited Service Campaign (LSC) K0D.

    • If qualifying rust perforation is not found, and the vehicle is not located in a Cold Climate State, no further action is required.

    • If significant rust perforation is found, the dealer will replace the vehicle’s frame FREE OF CHARGE to the owner under Customer Support Program ZKA if all conditions of the program are met.

But frame modifications are grounds for denial meaning no CMC and no weld on sliders or you will be denied.

when they (the dealer) looked at my frame, they told me, that the rust hole must be 10MM before poking something in it. Mine had 4 , easy to pass to new frame.

That would be correct for the 2011+ trucks according to the .pdf above.
A hole of 10mm or more AND with in a certain section of the frame.

    ^This.

Also, from your original thread and what you're reporting in this one I'd still go find a new (unbiased) dealer. Unless the frame warranty inspection/replacement window is different up in Canada, them telling you it expired in 2020 (10 years), plus the fact they sold you this rust bucket, raises a red flag.

Some new. Spoke with Toyota Canada and they reassured me that it expired originally in 2019 but was extended to april2022 2 months ago. Now the dealership is investigating because of the fact that I did request an inspection when I bought it last year and that they didn’t disclose the warranty due to it being expired on their side.

tldr: dealerships system says expired 2020 Toyota Canada says 2022 I requested inspection in 2021
