They should be pre-lubed. To confirm, you should have removed one of the caps to look at the roller pins. But, I’m 90 per cent sure they are lubed. You can always return to where you bought them to confirm.

Grease them. The Spicer ones specifically say that they come lubed with some grease to prevent corrosion/wear during storage but that you should fully lube them properly upon installation.

Well, unfortunately, that did not get done, however, i was able to grease the zirks, but again, unsure of how much grease they take?
Also, driveline itself? I replaced all 3 bearings and I'm not sure if both ends need greased, oiled or lubed?!

I suppose when in doubt, grease it! You are not going to hurt the items involved. Worse case is some grease seeps out and splatters on the underside. 2-3 pumps should be enough. You dont need to lube anything else. Some anti seize on the threads is the only other lube option. But, it is not a required action.

They say put in grease until you see new grease coming out.
Technically the grease isn’t for lube. It’s actually to capture the dirt and debris. It all sticks to the lube. And once you put new grease in, you are pushing the old grease out with all the debris.

"Lube" is just a generic term for lubricant--both oil and grease can act as lubricant. In this case, you want grease. Just select a quality grease from a decent brand that is NLGI #2 GC-LB rated and you're good to go. Just make sure not to use different types of greases together as it can cause them to break down and lose their ability to lubricate. Generally greases with similar properties of the same base (e.g. lithium based) can be used together though.

It's for both. It lubricates and significantly reduces wear on the races and rolling elements as the U-joints move as well as helps prevent ingress of FOD and moisture.

But you are correct that the correct method of grease application for these serviceable U-joints is to continue pumping grease into them until all of the old grease is out and the grease that comes out past the seals is clean.
