So I went Lithium on my teardrop, new power unit, new controller for solar panel. Now I want to charge while driving. Yes, I know the alternator will get me changed to 80% but I am still seeing reports of battery damage and I want to do this. Mostly for long trips without hookups or long stays in a camp site.

I have a 110vac charger that I can plug in to the onboard inverter out in the truck bed.and there are two ways I can see to do this.

Cut the wire or push the wire out of the connector and attach the wire from the charger. The chassis connector has a white latch that looks like it is easy to disconnect, push out the pin and add a quick connect and run wire to charger..

Second option is to make a short M to F pig tail and run the wire from that, probably more expensive and a possible electrical issue. Also easier to get to the ground wire.

Or just disconnect the wire and rely on solar, shore power or generator?

    Any thoughts?

    add:
is there a fuse I could pull under the hood and use a fuse tap connector to run to the charger? Have a 110 socket in the cab from some wondereful write ups here..

    Found my solution:
    Pull the 30 amp fuse
Use a fuse tap - add fuse and the extra wire is electrically connected to the 7 pin - connect to the charger
Use a spade lug into the battery side of the fuse tap to the input of the DC-to-DC converter/charger
    Connect the grounds

No mods to the truck that can't be undone in 2 minutes.

Granted $100 for the charger and now my old ac charger is scrap but it is portable solution to our next Tacoma.

And again, we are planning long distance travels with quick over night stops so wanted to keep the tear charged and the frig going....
