    Hello all!

I’m new to the truck world with my ‘22 Tacoma O/R. I have about 3k miles on my truck right now and was wondering when I should start seeing the 21/23 mpg Highway that’s projected. Right now I’m getting about 323-329 per tank. I HAD a led foot, but have eased up a bit recently. Thank you!

    pinstripes. lots of pinstripes.
Welcome to TW - mileage in the lower 300s is pretty good I'd say.

In reality - you won't see much improvement over time - maybe 1-2 mpg as things wear in and loosen up, but that's also not accounting for things wearing down and gumming up. Too many variables to worry about - gas quality, air temperature, wind resistance, rolling resistance, load, throttle behavior, etc.

I get 340 per tank with 2.7L 4cyl around town driving only.
If you have 6cyl that's good mpg IMO.

I was hoping for better news with $5/gal gas, but that’s what the truck life is like I guess. Thanks!

    Welcome to TW!

Where do you live? Elevation, hills, wind will all come into play, you may never see it. Easing up on the lead foot will help, but you may be as good as you're going to get, unless your creepin' around at 25-45 mph everywhere!! Pretty sure they base 21/23 off some BS lab results in some giant vacuum track with an old granny behind the wheel!

I live in Maryland. I’m used to cars and SUV’s. I appreciate everyone’s feedback. It’s just awesome to finally own a truck!

Below is a trial I posted in another thread. 2020 Pro 3.5 auto with 32" tires. Combo city, highway over 3 weeks.
You can get over 20 mpg on average with a V6 4X4 in these trucks.
It's all in how you manage that right foot my friend.
